Overview and metadata sections

In 5mo 1930, Philadelphia Yearly Meeting (Hicksite) appointed a committee "for the development of closer cooperation between Arch Street and Race Street Yearly Meetings, and to consider also whether the time of our Yearly Meeting might be changes so that the sessions of the two Meetings would at least in part overlap." This committee studied the state of collaborative efforts to that point, including the joint committees of Race Relations, Peace and Service, Young Friends, and Philanthropic, as well as Pendle Hill and Friends Social Union. In 1931, Charles F. Jenkins published a brochure, "Plan for Reuniting the Two Philadlephia Yearly Meetings of the Religious Society of Friends." In 1933 they issued "Suggested Procedures for United Monthly Meetings," which was later approved by Representative Meeting.

Records of the Committee on Cooperation with Arch Street of the Race Street (Hicksite) Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, 1930-1935. Of particular interest are surveys of cooperation between the two Philadelphia Quaker bodies to that point, as well as histories of these early orgainzations, including Woolman School, the predecessor to Pendle Hill.
