Overview and metadata sections

Best Buddies International is a nonprofit organization that attempts to create a worldwide network of volunteers and connections to create opportunities for, and relationships and friendships with, people living with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs). Founded in 1989 by Antony K. Shriver, the organization now has over 3,000 members worldwide, postively impacting the lives of other 1.3 million people. // The Haverford College chapter was founded in 2019 by students including Laurel Benjamin '21, Kiri Bartels '21, Maya Wernick '22, Zarin Mohsenin '21, and Eric Beery '22. It remained in operation throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, switching to digital operation throughout the period, and organized various events and provided a number of opportunites for connection. Throughout its existence the group continued to grow in numbers, and focused especially on pairing individuals with IDDs with members of the club, creating meaningful connections.
