Overview and metadata sections
Badass Lights and Sound Team (BLAST) is a student-run group which coordinates sound engineering, lighting design, and many other technical needs for shows and events on Haverford's campus. Since 2011, BLAST has provided support to student-run events and shows. BLAST initially staffed events with one primary worker and one assistant, but as of Fall 2019 have staffed events with one primary worker and two assistants. Student staff members go to biannual trainings, and are compensated for their work. As of spring 2023, BLAST has a $10,000 semester budget that covers payroll and equipment. Student event planners can sign up for BLAST support through Haverford's event management system (EMS). For small events, student event planners can now sign up for BLAST in a Box, which consists of a speaker, microphone, and phone connectors.
The collection contains a tech crew information sheet from 2011 as well as spreadsheets used by BLAST members to sign up to work at events from fall 2011 to spring 2023. The sign-up spreadsheets include the date of event, the name of the event and its sponsor, the time and location, the audio-visual support needed, the lighting support needed, whether or not a projector is needed, the names of the BLAST members working at the event, and the sound and lighting equipment needed.
The materials are arranged chronologically.
BLAST sign-up spreadsheets were donated to the College Archives by Maxwell Champlin, Co-Head and Treasurer of BLAST and a member of the Class of 2025.
