- Abstract:
- Eva Bryne was a Bryn Mawr student in the class of 1916 who went on to earn a M.A. in Latin in 1917 and a PhD in 1925 from the College. The Eva Bryne papers contain the personal papers of Bryne, dated 1882 to 1973, that document the lives, relationships, and interests of Bryne, her family, her close female friends, and some of her BMC classmates primarily from 1912 to 1971. The papers include correspondence, ephemera, personal writings, photographs, and other individuals' personal papers, with correspondence comprising the bulk of the materials. The strength of the papers lies in its documentation of Bryne and her friends' daily lives, of the experiences of BMC alumnae, and of Bryne's close, and at times romantic, friendships with three women, including Bryne's involvement in a three-way, family-coded relationship with two of these friends.
