Abstract:: The Philadelphia Sketch Club, founded in 1860, is America's oldest club for artists. Philadelphia Sketch Club records, 1860-2012, contains minute books, treasurer's reports, ledgers, receipts, dues books, membership applications, exhibition planning materials and catalogs, photographs, and many other records of the organization. A highlight of the collection is a box of Philadelphia Sketch Club member Christmas cards, most featuring original artwork, circa 1920-2004.

Philadelphia Society of Free Letts records, 1894-2014 (inclusive)

Abstract:: The Philadelphia Society of Free Letts, or Filadelfijas Brivo Latvju Biedriba (BLB), is the oldest Latvian Society outside of Latvia. Established as a settlement house in 1892 by Lettlanders fleeing oppression in Tsarist Russia, over time the organization has served as a community center, advocate for Latvian independence, and research facility for promoting Latvian culture. The Philadelphia Society of Free Letts records, 1894-2014, include both records created by BLB, including administrative, financial, and membership records; as well as other materials, principally ephemera, either donated or collected from other sources.

Quakertown Historical Society collection of ledgers and deeds, 1767-1991 (inclusive)

Extent:: 6.0 linear feet
Abstract:: Quakertown, Pennsylvania, incorporated in 1855, is a town located in the northeast portion of Upper Bucks County. The town remained quite small until the mid-nineteenth century, when the construction of the North Pennsylvania Railroad helped turn it into a significant commercial center. The Quakertown Historical Society collection of ledgers and deeds, 1767-1991, consists of various ledgers from different creators, as well as an assemblage of local deeds. It seems likely that the majority of ledgers are Quakertown Borough records, although many are not clearly identified. The collection also includes record books from Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society, Camp #489 (Quakertown, Pa.), Powelton Cut Glass Company, and several unidentified sources.

Radnor Hunt records, 1886-2016 (inclusive)

Extent:: 53.1 linear feet
Abstract:: Founded in 1883 in Radnor, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia, Radnor Hunt is the oldest continuously active fox hunt in the United States, as recognized by the Masters of Foxhounds Association of America (MFHA). The Hunt remained in Radnor until 1931, when encroaching development in the area led it to move about seven miles west to a new location near Malvern, Pennsylvania. While Radnor Hunt has remained at the Malvern location, it acquired additional hunting territory elsewhere in the region in the late 1990s as other hunts in the area disbanded. For more than 130 years, Radnor Hunt has been the focal point of an active sporting community carrying on not only its traditional activity of fox chasing, but also encouraging a great many other activities involving countryside pursuits, horses, hounds and good sportsmanship. Abstract:: In 1923, C. N. Agnew founded a real estate business to sell and appraise real estate on the Main Line of Philadelphia. As of 2014, the firm he established continues to operate from its office at 103 North Wayne Ave. in Wayne, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. The C. N. Agnew, Realtor, Inc. records, 1903-2000 (bulk 1965-2000), consist of annotated Main Line Board of Realtors listing cards and C. N. Agnew, Realtor, Inc. files on properties. The files on properties include inspection forms, appraisals, correspondence, contracts, copies of checks, newspaper clippings, photographs of the property, deeds, and other materials associated with the sale of real estate.

Sellersville Museum collection on U.S. Gauge, 1905-circa 1990

Abstract:: U.S. Gauge, a manufacturer of gauges and testing devices to measure pressure, temperature, flow, and liquid level, was founded in Sellersville (Bucks County, Pennsylvania) in 1904. It was acquired by Ametek, Inc. in 1944 and continues to operate as a division of that company as of 2014, although the manufacturing facilities in Sellersville closed down between the 1980s and the 2000s. The Sellersville Museum collection on U.S. Gauge, 1905-circa 1990, consists largely of U.S. Gauge Social Club newsletters (1935-1941) and photographs; there are also some additional printed materials and an original payroll ledger (1905-1906).

Spring-Ford Area Historical Society local history collection, 1880-1960 (bulk) 1789-2000 bulk, 1880-1960 (inclusive)

Abstract:: Previously a sparsely-settled farming area, early development in Spring City (Chester County, Pennsylvania) and adjacent Royersford (Montgomery County, Pennsylvania) coincided with the opening of the Schuylkill Navigation Canal in 1824. Industry in the two towns continued to grow during the 19th century, especially with the construction of major rail lines through both. By the early 20th century, Spring City and Royersford were booming industrial towns with extensive stove factories, glass and bottle works, and embroidery, hosiery, and knitting mills, among other businesses. The Spring-Ford Area Historical Society local history collection, 1789-2000 (bulk 1880-1960), consists of photographs, scrapbooks, manuscript volumes, pamphlets and ephemera, deeds, and various other documents relating to local history. Photographs form the largest portion of the collection.

Edward Platts and Ralph Bayfield collection on the Evansburg dam, 1960-1975 (inclusive)

Abstract:: In the 1960s, the Pennsylvania Department of Forests and Waters began planning a 86 foot dam in the Skippack Valley area of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Local opposition, including several members of St. James' Episcopal Church, was strong, and the Evansburg dam was never built. The Edward Platts and Ralph Bayfield collection on the Evansburg dam, 1960-1975, consists of five scrapbooks, several government reports, research on dams, and a map.

Solebury Farmers Club records, 1871-2010 (inclusive)

Abstract:: Founded by a group of 20 farmers in 1871, the aim of the Solebury Farmers Club (Bucks County, Pennsylvania) was "mutual improvement and instruction in the arts of agriculture and horticulture." As of 2013, the Club is still in existence, making it among the oldest agricultural organizations in Bucks County. The bulk of the Solebury Farmers Club records, 1871-2010, is minute books. The collection also includes newspaper clippings scrapbooks, membership dues records, copies of the Solebury Farmers Club Journal newsletters, materials relative to the 90th and 100th anniversary celebrations of the Club, and various other documents, printed materials, and photographs.
