Abstract:: The Woman's Club of Phoenixville, one of the two oldest women's clubs in the state, was organized in 1884, granted state federation in 1897, and incorporated into the General Federation of Women's Clubs in 1901. As of 2013, its goal is "to develop the educational, civic and social interest of its members and to advance the welfare of the community." The Woman's Club of Phoenixville records, 1903-2010, consist of eight scrapbooks (1958-1978), about six minute books (1959-2010), annual reports/membership directories (1903-circa 2005, incomplete), and a few other materials from the Club.

Travel Club of Bristol (Pa.) records, 1901-1995 (inclusive)

Abstract:: On March 1, 1901, Mrs. Emlen Martin organized the Travel Club of Bristol, Pennsylvania with sixteen charter members. The initial mission of the Travel Club was "the general improvement of its members in history, literature, art, and the vital interests of the day," but its objective soon changed to include its desire to be more service oriented toward the community. Throughout its existence, the Travel Club of Bristol supported various organizations, including the Bristol Junior-Senior High School, Washington Crossing Foundation, and Lower Bucks Hospital. In 1995, due to low membership, the group voted to disband the Travel Club and donate its remaining funds. The Travel Club of Bristol (Pa.) records, 1901-1995, document the group’s history and activities through financial and administrative records, scrapbooks, and various other materials such as correspondence, photographs, and ephemera.

Abstract:: The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism and American history that is open to any woman who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution. The DAR was founded in 1890, and a chapter in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia was established eight years later. The Germantown Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution records, 1898-1998, contain scrapbooks, administrative records, and pamphlets/ephemera. Scrapbooks dating from 1898 to 1978 make up the bulk of the collection.

Village Improvement Association of Doylestown records, 1895-2014 (inclusive)

Abstract:: The Village Improvement Association (VIA) was founded in 1895 by a group of women in Doylestown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, with the goal of improving and beautifying Central Bucks County. The VIA founded Doylestown Hospital in 1923 and is the only women's club to own and operate a community hospital. As of 2015, the VIA is headquartered at the James-Lorah Memorial Home, has a membership of over 350 women, and continues to undertake projects relating to health, welfare, community improvement, education, and the arts in Bucks County. The Village Improvement Association of Doylestown records, 1895-2014, consist of administrative records, scrapbooks, membership materials, photographs, audiovisual materials, blueprints, newsletters, ephemera, and other materials relating to the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown. There is also a small amount of materials from the Junior Women's Club of Doylestown.

Woman's Society of Christian Service of the Philadelphia Conference of the Methodist Church records, 1940-1973 (bulk) 1883-1973 (inclusive)

Abstract:: The Woman's Home Missionary Society of the Philadelphia Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church was organized in 1883, a few years after the national equivalent was formed. Its local programs included immigrant homes, boarding homes for women, Vacation Bible School, and a clinic. After the 1939 merger that resulted in the new corporation of the Methodist Church, the Society was folded into the Woman's Society of Christian Service. The Woman's Society of Christian Service was merged into the United Methodist Women in 1972. The Woman's Society of Christian Service of the Philadelphia Conference of the Methodist Church records, 1883-1973 (bulk 1940-1973), include minutes, ledgers and other financial documents, a scrapbook, newsletters, yearbooks, and annual reports of several foreign and domestic missionary groups.
