The collection consists of material compiled and used by Miss West and the History Committee for the writing of the History of Nursing in Pennsylvania. It contains a large amount of data about nurses' training and practice from hospitals all over the state. It also contains original documents of the Graduate Nurses' Association of the State of Pennsylvania in its formative years.

Women’s Auxiliary of the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania’s Ward G (Children’s Ward) minutes, 1917-1927 (inclusive)

The Ward G auxiliary was a group of women who met periodically to discuss the needs of children being treated in the children’s ward of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Gynecean Hospital School of Nursing records, 1914-1918 (inclusive)

Gynecean Hospital was a women's hospital in Philadelphia, operating from 1888 until 1939, when it merged with the University of Pennsylvania. This collection contains details of 34 student nurses at this hospital during the 1914 to 1918 period. Demographic information from application forms, letters of reference, grades, details of courses, and evaluations of these students are included. Also part of this collection are requests for information from institutions for information after the students had graduated.
