Abstract:
Miss Leslie's Magazine was a monthly women's magazine of literature and fashion published in Philadelphia from January of 1843 to July of 1846, when it was absorbed by Godey's Lady's Book. This book contains volumes 1 and 2 of Miss Leslie's Magazine, dating from January 1843 to December 1843; each volume contains 6 issues. Eliza Leslie was a Philadelphia-born writer of popular cookbooks, children's stories, and guides for women on domestic life and work. Miss Leslie's Magazine incorporates Leslie's recipes and instructions for maintaining a household with fashion plates, essays, and stories and poems from contributing writers such as N.P. Willis, Lydia H. Sigourney, T. S. Arthur, Park Benjamin, and Miss Leslie.

Abstract:
The effusions, a collection of volumes consists of several issues of a handmade magazine bound in one volume. The magazine was created by the Philadelphia club named Ell Kube and was founded by a group of young Jewish men in 1904. There are seven volumes spanning the years from 1905-1914.

Miguel Romera-Navarro collection of photocopied Spanish manuscripts, circa 1950s (inclusive)

Abstract:
Miguel Romera-Navarro (1888-1954) was a professor and a scholar of Spanish language and literature. This collection consists of photocopies of manuscripts by three Spanish authors: Pedro Calderón de la Barca (1600-1681), Francisco Gómez de Quevedo y Santibáñez Villegas (1580-1645), Félix Lope de Vega y Carpio (1562-1635). The photocopied manuscripts were probably used by Miguel Romera-Navarro in his studies and to write his own books.

Joshua Longstreth Baily (1826-1916) was a Quaker merchant in the dry goods business, and was involved in African American causes, peace issues, and temperance. Volume 1 contains extracts organized by topics such as: benevolence, courage, doing for Jesus, fear, forgiveness, honesty, lying, missionaries, prayer, resignation, and truthfulness. Volume 2 contains extracts of essays on literature and copied poems.

Herman Teerink (1880-1961) was a Dutch scholar who studied the Irish satirist, Jonathan Swift (1667-1745). This collection contains Teerink's manuscript notes for the revised edition of his 1937, A Bibliography of the Writings in Prose and Verse of Jonathan Swift. The revised edition of this book was published in 1963, after Teerink's death, and was titled, A Bibliography for the Writings of Jonathan Swift.

Vincas Maciunas (1909-2003) was a Lithuanian-born author and specialist in Lithuanian literature. This collection contains manuscripts of prose and poetry manuscripts which he appears to have collected from a number of 20th century Lithuanian authors including: Kazys Almenas, Pulgis Andruisis, Kazimieras Barenas, Aloyzas Baronas, Kazys Bradunas, Liudas Dovydenas, Atanas Gustaitis, Jurgis Jankus, Kleopas Jurgelionis, Marius Katiliskis, Henrikas Nagys, Alfonsas Nyka-Niliunas, Petronele Orintaite, Kostas Ostrauskas, Henrikas Radauskas, Mykolas Vaitkis, Vidunas, and Leonardas Zitkevieius.
