Abstract:: Many men and women from Perkasie, Bucks County, Pennsylvania and the surrounding area served in the military during World War I and World War II. The Perkasie Historical Society World Wars collection, 1917-2001 (bulk 1917-1946), primarily consists of photograph albums and clippings scrapbooks that document their involvement. It also includes pamphlets, ephemera, ration books and cards, training manuals, and printed histories of various military divisions. Of special interest is a scrapbook with photographs of all of the WWI servicemen from Perkasie and short typed biographies about each soldier's service.

Abstract:: Chester F. Baker (1891-1963) was a municipal engineer and amateur historian from the city of Chester in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Among his many affiliations with historical and genealogical organizations, Baker was president of the Chester Rural Cemetery Association and director of the Delaware County Historical Society. The Chester F. Baker local history research and family papers, 1864-1960 (bulk 1925-1960), consist of well over 100 binders with research materials on history topics, papers from organizations with which Baker was involved, and papers relating to his work as a surveyor. There are also a few personal and family photograph albums and scrapbooks.

Abstract:: This collection contains the papers of the Batcheler, Hartshorne, and Sahlin families, descended from Axel (1826-March 5, 1909) and Axeline Sahlin (1834-1922), a Swedish couple whose children lived in Europe and the United States. Four generations of the family are documented here, with documentation centering around five families. In the United States, the family is represented by Gertrude Chandler (July 17, 1860-1953) and Axel Sahlin (1855-1937); their daughter Ellen Sahlin (February 21, 1895-June 4, 1988) and her husband, Judge Richard Hartshorne (February 29, 1888-September 19,1975); and their daughter, Penelope Hartshorne (1928-2007) and her husband, George Batcheler(1926-2009). The Swedish side of the family is represented by Axel and Axeline Sahlin and the family of their daughter, Essie Sahlin (1859-1950) and her husband, Simon Johannes Boëthius (1850-1924). Abstract:: Charles Savidge (1835-1908) married Sarah Hutchinson Morris (1864-1914), with whom he had two children: Morris Savidge (1895-1979) and Clarence Savidge (1900-1986). The family lived in Newtown (Bucks County, Pennsylvania), where they owned and operated Savidge Brothers retail store for over a century. The Savidge family papers, circa 1875-1970, consist mostly of personal papers, particularly relating to Morris and Clarence. The collection includes letters from Morris to his brother while the former was in military training and active duty in France during World War I as well as related photographs. Other materials in the collection include an album of funeral cards and calling cards/invitations, family photo albums, and some correspondence, financial papers, and ephemera relating to other family members.

Abstract:: Emilie Longstreth Sayen (1873-1950) and George W. Schultz (1864-1957) both came from upper class families and married in 1892 in Wayne, Pennsylvania. Among other interests, Emilie enjoyed the popular Victorian hobby of scrapbooking. George held many patents, and was an amateur photographer and illustrator. They had five children together before separating around 1904 and divorcing in 1913. The Emilie Sayen Schultz family scrapbooks, 1892-1950, are from Emilie Sayen Schultz, the Sayen family, and Emilie's husband, George W. Schultz. Most of the scrapbooks document the lives of wealthy Philadelphia suburbanites from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century, although one is focused on World War I. The photograph albums depict scenes from Wayne, Pennsylvania and other areas nearby.

Abstract:: Roxborough and Manayunk are neighborhoods in the northwest section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, adjacent to Wissahickon Valley Park. In the 19th century the Wissahickon Creek was lined with mills and the neighborhoods were industrial and working class, but the Wissahickon was later turned into a public park and Roxborough and Manayunk underwent substantial gentrification during the latter part of the 20th century. The Roxborough Manayunk Wissahickon Historical Society local history collection, 1838-2012, consists primarily of newspaper clippings, articles, unpublished genealogies, copies of primary-source documents, and other secondary-source materials relating to local history. The collection also includes a small amount of original primary-source materials, such as receipts and invoices, correspondence, photographs, meeting minutes, and ephemera.
