Abstract:
Quakers Uniting in Publications (QUIP) is a group founded in 1983 to promote production and distribution of Quaker materials. It is an international network of organizations and individuals that work to make Quaker publications more accessible and to support the production of Quaker publications through forums, conferences, annual meetings, and collaborative projects. This collection includes documents concerning the group's formation, membership lists, treasurer's records, correspondence, annual and midyear meetings, and catalogs. Additional donations in 2006 and 2012 expanded the collection to include submissions, drafts, and the production process of Whispers of Faith: Young Friends share their experiences of Quakerism (2005) and Spirit Rising: Young Quaker Voices (2010).

Friends Committee on Unity with Nature (FCUN) grew out of the Workshop on Living in Harmony with the Natural Environment at the FGC Gathering at Oberlin in 1987. In 2001, sixteen North American yearly meetings appointed representatives to its Annual Meeting. In 2003, their name was changed to Quaker Earthcare Witness. The group publishes a newsletter, BeFriending Creation.

Elkinton Family Papers, ca. 1736-2002 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Contains the papers of the Elkinton Family, a Quaker family of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and its vicinity. Joseph Elkinton was born in Salem, New Jersey, in 1794 and settled in Philadelphia where he established a soap manufacturing business which eventually became the Philadelphia Quartz Company. He was involved with the Seneca Indians at the Quaker school at Tunesassa (Quaker Bridge), New York, where his oldest son, Joseph Scotton Elkinton, was born in 1830. The latter was a Quaker minister and involved with the resettlement of the Doukhobors in Canada. His oldest son, Joseph Elkinton, was active in the Society of Friends in the Midwest and traveled to Japan and China on religious visits. His sister, Mary Passmore Elkinton, married the Japanese diplomat, Dr. Inazo Nitobe, in 1891. His son, Joseph Passmore Elkinton, married Mary Russell Bucknell in 1909; after Mary's death in 1929, he married Anna Bassett Griscom, a Hicksite minister, in 1931. J. S. Francis Nicholson was a prominent Quaker investment banker, longtime officer of Provident National Bank, Philadelphia, and active in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, A.F.S.C., and Friends Fiduciary Corporation. The collection contains correspondence, financial records, memorabilia, and other papers reflecting his career and life with his wife, Evelyn Haworth Nicholson.

Abstract:
Margaret Hill Collins, a member of the Society of Friends, was an advocate for integrated housing in the Philadelphia suburbs. These papers include her writings and poetry, personal correspondence, and the records of the Community Support Corporation. The latter was a small nonprofit that remodeled and resold homes in low income communities in Delaware County, Pa. It was established in the mid 1970s and was headquartered on Jackson Street in Media.

Abstract:
This collection contains manuscripts and other materials relating to the Whitson, Smedley, Fisher and other Quaker families of southeastern Pennsylvania. Along with commonplace books, correspondence, and photographs are a series of thematically arranged genealogical binders assembled by the donors. Of particular interest are the battlefield correspondence of Sam Smedley who was killed in the American Civil War and the journal of Esther Whitson, later Cope, who served as a nurse with the AFSC in Russia in the early 1920s

David W. Fraser papers, 1971-2007 (inclusive)

Abstract:
David Fraser was the 12th President of Swarthmore College (1982-1991). Trained as a physician with an emphasis on epidemiology, David W. Fraser (b. 1944) is also known as an advocate of liberal arts education, a scholar of public health, and an artist in traditional methods of textile construction. He joined Swarthmore College in 1982 after working at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, and resigned from Swarthmore in 1991 to to head the Social Welfare Department at the Aga Khan Secretariat. This scattered collection, which dates from 1971 to 2007 (bulk 1982-1991), primarily consists of records from Fraser's time as President of Swarthmore College, including the construction of the Blue Route (I-476), financial aid, National Association of Independent Colleges & Universities, senior staff retreats, and more. There are journals from his time as Swarthmore College president, as well as preceding years working for the CDC and Aga Khan.

Abstract:
Rebecca Chopp was the 14th President of Swarthmore College (2009-2014). She is a well-known scholar of religion and American culture. While at Swarthmore, Chopp researched changing structures and cultures of higher education, the role of liberal arts in a democratic society, and religion and higher education. She resigned from Swarthmore College in 2014 to become the 18th Chancellor of the University of Denver. This collection includes correspondence, speech texts, and other documents from Chopp's time as Swarthmore College President. Also included are similar documents from Interim President Constance Hungerford, 2014-2015.

Swarthmore College Dance Program records, 1946-2002 (inclusive)

Abstract:
At Swarthmore classes in dance technique have been offered as part of the physical education curriculum for men and women since the 1940s. The study of dance at Swarthmore College became part of the performing arts program in the late 1970s and was established as a major and minor in course and Honors in 1999. The collection contains materials relating to the the Swarthmore Folk Festival and other folk dance activities at Swarthmore (known as the "Co-Ed Dance Club"), as well as documents dating from after Dance was established as an academic program at Swarthmore, including materials collected for tributes to Pat Boyer, the first Director of Dance.
