Abstract:
Jane M. Oppenheimer was a biologist and science historian. She graduated from Bryn Mawr in 1932 with a degree in biology, later taking a Ph.D. from Yale in zoology. She taught biology at Bryn Mawr from 1938-1980, and also designed an experiment for NASA in the 1970s. This collection, which ranges from 1849 to 1981, includes various materials related to NASA experiments and some of Oppenheimer's class materials.

Abstract:
The Hetty Goldman Collection is a small collection of photographs, correspondence, and other documents relevant to Hetty Goldman—pioneering archaeologist, classicist, scholar—whose excavations in the first half of the twentieth expanded the knowledge of the ancient past in the Mediterranean region. The strength of the collection is in several unpublished photographs of Hetty Goldman from the early twentieth century, correspondence, and the typed text of a speech that she delivered at Bryn Mawr College in 1955.

Elizabeth Yarnall Maguire attended Bryn Mawr with the class of 1913, majoring in History, Economics, and Politics. Her one-volume scrapbook consists of materials from 1908-1913 and mostly contains Bryn Mawr memorabilia. It offers a valuable view into the social life and traditions of Bryn Mawr students during the early 20th century.

The Wilmer Cave Wright papers is a collection of the miscellaneous notes and papers of Wilmer Cave Wright. Wright was a Professor of Greek at Bryn Mawr from 1921-1933, but served on the Bryn Mawr faculty since 1897. The collection is not dated in the finding aid. The collection primarily consists of correspondence and miscellaneous materials.

Helen Taft Manning and Frederick Manning Papers, 1862 to 1980 (bulk)

Abstract:
This collection contains the official documents and letters, as well as personal memorabilia, correspondence, and photo albums (bulk dates from 1907-1960s) of Helen Taft Manning and Frederick Manning. Helen Herron Taft Manning, daughter of President William Howard Taft and Helen Herron Taft, graduated from Bryn Mawr College in 1915. She was named Dean of Bryn Mawr College in 1917, and became acting President in 1919. After obtaining a doctorate in history from Yale University, she returned to Byrn Mawr in 1925 as Dean and Professor of History. She married Frederick Johnson Manning in 1920, a former Yale graduate who then took up a position as a professor in the History Department at Swarthmore College in 1925. The materials in this collection shed light on the life and career of both Helen and Frederick Manning, by means of the extensive personal and professional documents they shared with each other as well as their various family members and colleagues.
