Abstract:: Alexander Kendrick was a journalist, foreign correspondent, author, and radio and television reporter affiliated with The Public Ledger, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS). He is best known for his reporting of international events in World War II and postwar years. The Alexander Kendrick papers comprise radio broadcast and television typescripts, correspondence, contracts, edited book typescripts, book research notes, clippings, long-playing records, and photographs.

The records extend from the school's creation in 1908 until its closing in 1987. The collection comprehensively documents the growth of a suburban community hospital nurse training program.

Abstract:: The Making of Modern Law is a three part series that contains a vast array of information on legal history. This collection consists of the backfiles of the The Making of Modern Law: Trials, 1600-1926, which is the third series. The bulk of the collection consists of 10 Super DLT Tapes which contain files on unofficially published accounts of trials; official trial documents, briefs and arguments; and official records of legislative proceedings, administrative proceedings and arbitrations. The collection also has a complete file list which is included on the CD disc.

Abstract:: The Biddle family has a long history on American land with Quaker ancestors emigrating in 1681 and settling in Philadelphia around 1725. This collection documents the family relationships, and to a lesser extent, the work and military service of six generations of one branch of that family, starting with Clement Biddle (1740-1814), and following the descendants of two of his sons: Thomas Alexander Biddle (1776-1857) and Clement Cornell Biddle (1784-1855). These papers tell the stories, to varying degrees, of more than 30 individual Biddle family members through correspondence, financial records, professional papers, diaries, scrapbooks, and photographs.

Abstract:: This collection includes material collected by Siegfried Weisbeger (1896-1984), proprietor of the Peabody Book Shop in Baltimore Maryland and confidante of H.L. Mencken (1880-1956), a noted writer, editor, and social provocateur, famous for his disdain for common morals and received wisdom. The collection contains correspondence between the two men and other correspondents of the Peabody Book Shop, manuscripts and published writings by and about Mencken (many of them signed), and autobiographical writings and poems written by Weisberger.

Jean-Baptiste Lingaud papers , 1775-1824 (inclusive)

Abstract:: The collection comprises 492 items dating from 1775 to 1824: among these are letters, municipal documents, police records, trial transcripts, and some of Lingaud's personal papers. The pre-Revolutionary documents mainly include bureaucratic correspondence between Limoges and the court in Versailles and Paris. After 1792 there emerges a vast number of name lists and secret surveillance records as well as arrest warrants for aristocrats and their sympathizers. Most notable in this part of the collection are letters and documents from the Revolutionary Committee and the Surveillance Committee.

Compagnie de Commerce de Lorraine financial records, 1694-1791 (inclusive)

Abstract:: Compagnie de Commerce de Lorraine was founded by Duke Leopold of Lorraine in 1724, with Regard d'Aubonne as director general and Claude Regnault among its other directors, and dissolved by the 1760s. One purpose of the company was to protect commerce in the duchy from the French economic crisis precipitated by the inflation and crash of the stock of John Law's Compagnie des Indes. These 31 files include a few printed documents pertaining to the establishment of the Compagnie and numerous account calculations and documents concerning the liquidation of the Compagnie.

The family was largely involved in the shipping industry and agriculture; but one descendent was a well-known geologist in the United States. Abstract:: Victor Hollier was the commissary of the directoire and juge de paix in Fanjeaux in the Carcassonne region in southwestern France. This collection contains papers and letters that were in the possession of Hollier. In most cases, the items appear to be copies of official documents and reports concerned with the administration of Fanjeaux during the revolution.

Abstract:: Robert Hare was a chemist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (born January 17, 1781) who is credited with developing the oxy-hydrogen blowpipe and the "galvanic deflagrator." This collection is made up of two series containing letters to Robert Hare about his scientific research, and letters concerning Edgar Fahs Smith's biography of Robert Hare entitled The Life of Robert Hare, An American Chemist (1781-1858).

Henry Dundas papers, 1781-1839 (inclusive)

Abstract:: Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville PC and Baron Dunira (28 April 1742–28 May 1811) was a Scottish lawyer and politician. He was the first Secretary of State for War and the last person to be impeached in the United Kingdom. His son, Robert Dundas, 2nd Viscount (14 March 1771–10 June 1851), was at various times Keeper of the Signet of Scotland, First Lord of the Admiralty, and a member of Parliament. The collection includes correspondence and documents formerly owned by the First and Second Viscounts Melville, Henry Dundas and Robert Dundas. The materials come from the Dundas family archives and consist of ten bound volumes and four boxes of unbound manuscripts. The bulk of the papers relate to British India with a smaller but still substantial subset dealing with Scottish politics, patronage, and pensions. With a few exceptions the collection comprises incoming correspondence and enclosures to Henry and Robert Dundas but not their replies.

Abstract:: The collection documents Pepper's role in expanding the University of Pennsylvania in the 19th century, his contributions to the medical profession, and his activism in Philadelphia. Abstract:: Roberto Morgadanes, a native of Mexico, studied for his doctorate in Romance languages at the University of Pennsylvania from 1940 to 1942, specializing in the origin of colonial Mexican drama. This collection consists of documents relating to Roberto Morgadanes's studies as well as original Mexican religious dramas, mainly dating from the late 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century.

Sydney S. Keil collection of Latin Americana, 1615-1863 (inclusive)

Abstract:: The Sydney S. Keil Collection of Latin Americana contains broadsides and other printed material from Latin America dating from the 17th to 19th centuries with the majority dating from the 18th and early 19th centuries. The majority of these items were printed in Mexico, but the collection also includes material printed in Spain, Peru, and Columbia. The collection is particularly strong in printed novenas and other devotional work, as well as government decrees and laws.

William H. Helfand collection of artwork and printed ephemera, 1790-1990 (inclusive)

Abstract:: William Helfand (1926-2008) was a scholar of the histories of medicine, pharmacy and art, and a collector of prints and ephemera related to all three. This collection contains a fairly diverse set of artwork and printed ephemera collected by Helfand, which, for the most part, relates to pharmacy and medicine and/or the fine arts.
