Abstract:: The Hedgerow Theatre Company was established in 1923 by Jasper Deeter, a New York based actor and director. Located in the Rose Valley Arts and Crafts Community of Delaware County, Pennsylvania, Hedgerow holds the distinction as the longest serving Repertory Theatre in America. The Hedgerow Theatre Company records contains a wide variety of materials, from business records and show materials to member ephemera and photographs. The collection provides both a practical and intimate look into the workings of this repertory theatre.

Abstract:: This collection includes books, chaplets, published lectures, journal issues, and exhibition catalogues from the personal library of American poet Daniel Hoffman (1923-2013). The majority of the collection consists of small-press poetry collections. Some of the collections feature Hoffman as translator or include introductory material written by Hoffman, and some of the anthologies include his work, but the great majority of the material is by others.

Abstract:: Richard Bunker Singer graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in 1939, served as a United States Navy flight surgeon in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and in 1952 accepted a position in life insurance underwriting at New England Mutual Life Insurance Company in Boston, MA. The Richard Bunker Singer Papers document the family life and professional career of Dr. Singer. The collection has been organized into six series: Correspondence, Personal, Professional, Works By, Photographs, and Awards.

Barry Wallenstein collection of James T. Farrell material, 1960-2005 (inclusive) 1963-1979 (bulk)

Abstract:: Barry Wallenstein met James T. Farrell in the early 1960s and the two developed a professional and personal relationship. Wallenstein and Farrell began collaborating on a collected work of Farrell's letters, entitled Selected Letters of James T. Farrell, in which Wallenstein would serve as editor. Farrell broke the contract for the book, 6 months after signing with Summit Books. These letters, articles, clippings, invitations, legal documents, interviews and diary excerpts provide documentation of the ill-fated publication project.

Harvey Finkle photographs, 1968-2019 (inclusive)

Abstract:: Harvey Finkle (born March 28, 1934) is a self-taught documentary photographer who has documented the social, economic, cultural, and political issues in the city of Philadelphia and across the globe. Finkle's work largely focuses on marginalized communities, including low income and homeless families, homeless veterans, refugees, immigrants, and the disabled, to name only a few. This collection, dating from 1968 to 2019, contains a majority of Finkle's five-decade-long oeuvre, in various formats including prints, contact sheets, negatives, slides, research, interview transcripts, and publications. As a whole, this collection provides documentation of activism in Philadelphia and focuses on social injustices in the city, the country, and the world.
