Abstract:: Laura Ruth "Patsy" Murray Klein graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's School of Education in 1931, received her master's degree in English in 1933, and completed her Ph.D. in English in 1943. She was an educator in the Philadelphia area, who eventually rose to the position of Principal of the Philadelphia High School for Girls from 1963 to 1976. The Laura Ruth Murray Klein Papers document just a few of the organizations and activities that this multi-faceted woman engaged in over her lifetime.

Abstract:: The Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania authorized the establishment of a "Department of Biology" at the University in April 1884 and elected the founding members of its faculty one month later. This collection documents the early history and development of the Department of Biology and the teaching of botany and zoology at the University of Pennsylvania until 1916.

Abstract:: D. Walter Cohen, D.D.S. was appointed dean of the School of Dental Medicine in 1972, after a twenty year career on the faculty of the Dental School. The Records of the School of Dental Medicine Office of the Dean contains material related to the tenure of D. Walter Cohen (1972 - 1983) with some material from the period Lester William Burket (1951 - 1972) held the position. The majority of the records relate to the School's Long Range Plan and the Pennsylvania Experiment for developing the curriculum in the 1980s.

University of Pennsylvania Women's Club Records, 1910-2000 (inclusive)

Abstract:: The University of Pennsylvania Women's Club originated in 1906 when Mary Spring Gardiner Frazier, wife of the Dean of the Medical School, Charles Harrison Frazier, organized an informal gathering for several faculty wives to meet every two weeks for tea. It was officially founded, however, in 1910 under the name of the Faculty Tea Club of the University of Pennsylvania. The University of Pennsylvania Women's Club Records contains material of its activities and official business. The bulk of the collection contains financial records and a chronological file.
