Abstract:: Public schools began in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1818. With the Philadelphia City/County Consolidation of 1854, the city was divided into wards and each ward constituted a separate school district section, with its own local board of directors. Northeast Philadelphia wards that constituted individual school district sections included the 23rd, 35th, and 41st. The Reorganization Act of 1905 took most of the administrative power away from the local section boards and gave it to the central Philadelphia Board of Education. The Historical Society of Frankford collection on Northeast Philadelphia schools, 1825-1925, consists of Board of Directors of Public School minutes for the 23rd section and a small number of records from public schools in Northeast Philadelphia. Records include minute books, attendance and enrollment books, and report and examination books. There is also a small selection of newsletters.

Abstract:: Located in southeastern Delaware County, Pennsylvania the William Penn School District serves students who live in the six communities of Aldan, Colwyn, Darby, East Lansdowne, Lansdowne, and Yeadon Boroughs. Despite a protracted legal battle, the school district was established in 1972 per a state mandate to merge and desegregate schools from the districts of Lansdowne-Aldan, Yeadon, and Darby-Colwyn. The William Penn School Board records, 1969-1979 (bulk 1975-1979), consist of newsletters and minutes, court-related documents, press releases, financial reports, budgets, directories, a long-range plan, and some miscellaneous items.

Abstract:: Historical Society of Montgomery County school records collection, 1814-1989, consists of miscellaneous records from schools in the vicinity of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Many different types of schools are represented in the collection, including public, private, and religious (both sunday schools and seminaries); the educational level ranges from primary to post-secondary. There are many types of records from both school districts and individual schools, including minute books, classroom attendance rolls, school catalogs and publications, teachers' monthly reports, etc.

Abstract:: The Eddystone School District was established shortly after the Borough of Eddystone, Delaware County, Pennsylvania was incorporated in 1888. In 1966, the state mandated that the district merge with the Ridley Park and Ridley Township School Districts. The Eddystone School Board records, 1919-1966, include by-laws, board minutes, treasurer's reports, and legal documents, 1919-1965 (incomplete).

Abstract:: The Free School Act of 1834 established a system of public schools in Pennsylvania. The Plumstead Township (Bucks County) School Board at one point oversaw a dozen small schools in the area. In 1959, Plumstead joined nearby Buckingham and Doylestown townships to form the Central Bucks Joint Elementary School Board, and its remaining schools were consolidated into Gayman Elementary School, finished in 1961. Most of the Plumstead Township School Board records, 1836-1964 (bulk 1861-1941), are school attendance registers for Plumstead Township; the collection also includes various supporting records relating to the Plumstead Township School Board and its successor, Central Bucks Joint School Board.

Abstract:: The Free School Act of 1834 established a system of public schools in Pennsylvania. As of 2014, the Radnor Township School District has three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school under its purview. The Radnor School District teachers' monthly reports, 1866-1918, are in the form of annual volumes for individual schools in the district. The reports include teachers' names, student names, and daily attendance records. About one-half dozen schools are represented.
