Abstract:
The Penguin Club, previously known as the Campus Club and before that the Faculty Club, served as the primary social organization for Swarthmore faculty and their spouses from around 1920 until 1989. The Penguin Club records, 1920-1989, include minutes of the Penguin Club and predecessor organization (including some Men's and Women's minutes), 1920s-1980s; faculty-staff drama production materials, such as programs, scripts, planning materials, and flyers, 1960s-1989; files on other activities of the Campus Club, such as museum tours, potlucks, and picnics; and materials on "The Kovalenko," an annual dinner dance for faculty. Also stored with this collection is one slim volume of records of Jocoseria, a faculty club for Robert Browning enthusiasts (1898-1899), call number RG6/L4-B.

Abstract:
This collection includes the papers and correspondence of the Fussell and Lewis famlies. The latter relate primarily family and local news. Of particular interest are several letters by Graceanna Lewis denouncing slavery, an account of the response in New York Yearly Meeting to the disownment of Isaac T. Hopper, and correspondence relating an encounter with the Seneca Indians. Other letters include those written to Mariann Lewis by friends from Kimberton Boarding School, some of which relate to the antislavery movement, and letters from Linnaeus Fussell to his family.

Abstract:
This collection includes manuscripts relating to the establishment of Fair Hill Boarding School by the Baltimore Yearly Meeting. Included are documents concerning the purchase of land, distribution of the Fair Hill Fund, and lists of rules for Westtown and Nine Partners Boarding Schools. These materials reflect Quaker views of education and their objectives in the establishment of Quaker schools. Especially interesting is a letter from Ann King relating the efforts of Nine Partners School to maintain Quaker values. Other correspondents include John Ellicott, William Morsell, Caleb Bentley, and Whitson Canby.

Abstract:
This collection includes letters and legal documents of the Gest family over several generations. The collection also includes genealogical information on the Gests, their ancestors the Dickinsons, and their descendants, the Pownalls. Notable among the correspondence is a letter from Philadelphia Western District Women's Meeting to Deborah West, Jr., reprimanding her for disunity, presumably with the Hicksites. Also included are wills of Joseph and Deborah Gest, and letters from John B. Gest and Elizabeth Pownall.
