Abstract:: The American Civil Liberties Union Records document the activities of the Union in protecting individual rights from 1920 through 1995. The files contain materials on freedom of speech, expression, and association; due process of law; equality before the law; legal case files; and organizational records. Within these categories files reflect subject areas such as academic freedom, censorship, racial discrimination, aliens' rights, privacy concerns, labor concerns, amnesty, and government loyalty and security. The files reflect work on litigation, advocacy and public policy, and subject files on various areas of interest connected with civil liberties. Materials include correspondence, court documents, memoranda, printed matter, minutes, reports, briefs, and legal files. Also included are materials from ACLU affiliate organizations, and the Lawyers Constitutional Defense Committee. Abstract:: Elijah Coffin's scrapbook includes his handwritten notes, typed materials, and published clippings. It features published materials on the history of westward expansion and pioneers, and the history of Indiana, as well as typed excerpts from a history of Kentucky (by Scudder), a history of Virginia (by Cooke), and Daniel Boone. In addition to material focusing on the history of the American West, the scrapbook includes excerpts from histories of Mesopotamia, Russia, Babylonia, Sumeria, Palestine, and Jerusalem.

Abstract:: This collection contains photographs, letters, documents, and pamphlets regarding Rolla Foley's musical career in the Near East between 1939-1945. He had various roles throughout music performances and festivals, most often compiling and editting the music, but also conducting on occasion. These festivals include the 1941 Palestine Children's Music Festival, the 1943 Children's Music Festival, the 1943 Syrian Students' Music Festival, the 1944-1945 Near East Music Festival, and the 1945 Folk Music Festival that took place in Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, and the former Tranjordan. This collection also contains 1979 letters regarding Foley's career and works during his lifetime.

Abstract:: Charles Duhring Friday (1910-2004) was a civil engineer and architect who worked as a draftsman and designer in a number of firms during the 1930s and 1940s with his brother, John D. Fridy, until they formed their own partnership in 1947. The Charles and John D. Fridy lantern slides, circa 1920-1940, consist of about 215 lantern slides, most of which are hand colored, primarily depicting images from vacations taken by Fridy and his brother, John. The collection is organized into five series based on location: I. Washington D.C. and Virginia; II. New Jersey; III. Florida; IV. Pennsylvania and Maryland; V. Lancaster Research Laboratories (Hackensack, New Jersey). An application to the Kodak Correspondence College is also present in the collection.

Abstract:: This collection contains a leaflet regarding the opening of Joseph Sturge's First Day School at the Friends Locust St. Mission House in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 1st, 1865. The school was established as First Day school for poor African Americans and immigrants. The school later merged and formed the Benezet House Association to provide education and relief to African Americans. Lack of demanding and funding led to the school's demolishment in 1945. There is also a letter from the Board of the Friends' Freedmen's Relief Association requesting funding for the reopening of schools in North Carolina and Virginia, addressed to William W. Smedley in September, 1874. The association was founded in 1863 to provide aid and education to freed enslaved peoples. The focus later shifted in the 20th century to supporting Black students, summer work camps, and scholarships. The association disbanded in 1982, with aid being placed under the J.
