Abstract:: W. Robert Swartz was a local historian and a photographer who owned a photography shop on Lancaster Avenue in Ardmore for most of the second half of the twentieth century. The W. Robert Swartz Photography Collection, 1890-1996, largely consists of photograph negatives taken by Swartz, but it also includes some images dating from the turn of the twentieth century collected by Howard G. Kurtz and H. Parker Rolfe. The photographs are centered in Lower Merion Township and surrounding regions, and depict local landmarks, sports teams, events, accidents and natural disasters, covered bridges, and the Swartz family.

A handyman at Bethlehem Steel Plant in Pottstown, he also served several terms as township supervisor and was a member of the Linfield United Church of Christ. The Frank Rumler papers, 1870-1995, include personal papers of Frank Rumler, as well as documents pertaining to his terms as a township supervisor and his involvement with the Linfield United Church of Christ.

The John and Lydia Morris estate papers, 1854-1932, consist of the siblings' papers primarily relating to the adjacent lands they donated to form the Arboretum--Compton and Bloomfield estates. The collection includes financial ledgers, receipts, correspondence, and other primary-source documents, as well as secondary-source copies of Morris family documents held elsewhere and articles on the Morris family.
