Abstract:: Both John W. Ridpath (a Jenkintown pharmacist, newspaper publisher, and borough government official) and his son, William M. Ridpath (an engineer), were amateur photographers. The John W. and William M. Ridpath photographs, 1890-1935, consist mostly of glass plate negatives, with some contact prints and (film) slides created later. John W. Ridpath's photographs include local scenes of eastern Montgomery County as well as some domestic scenes of late Victorian home-life. William M. Ridpath's photographs document his work on the construction of the Panama Canal as well as aspects of life in Panama.

Keswick Theatre records, 1980-2006 (bulk) 1924-2006 (inclusive)

Abstract:: The Keswick Theatre, designed by famed architect Horace Trumbauer as a combination vaudeville/movie house, opened in Glenside, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania in 1928. The theater was closed in 1980 and slated for demolition when the Glenside Landmarks Society, a not-for-profit group, formed with the hope of restoring it to its former grandeur and operations. They were successful, and the Keswick re-opened under private ownership in 1988. The Keswick Theatre records, 1924-2006, include newspaper clippings, a scrapbook, ephemera such as tickets and programs, documents from the Glenside Landmark Society, and research for a book on the Keswick.

Abstract:: Harry J. Utzy, Jr. (1908-1992) was a commercial, portrait, and news photographer active in the Jenkintown area. The Harry J. Utzy, Jr., photographs, 1926-1985, contain approximately 20,000 glass negatives, original film negatives, and prints that largely document the area of Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. Also included are photographic prints documenting the newly-constructed Alaska Highway (1943).

Abstract:: The Old York Road Woman’s Exchange was a non-profit consignment store that was established to "help others to help themselves." It opened in Jenkintown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania in 1932 and closed in 1996. The Old York Road Woman’s Exchange records, 1932-1995, consist largely of minutes that span nearly its entire existence (1932-1994), with several volumes of account books, a consigners’ book, a scrapbook, and a scattering of clippings and other memorabilia. The Old York Road Woman's Exchange was a charter member of the Federation of Woman's Exchanges, and this collection also includes several decades of the Federation’s annual meeting packets.

Wyncote Audubon Society (Wyncote Bird Club) records, 1914-1993 (inclusive)

Abstract:: The Wyncote Audubon Society was founded in 1914 as the Wyncote Bird Club by Ernest Harold Baynes. Its goal was the preservation of birds and their environment; later, it took on the management of Crosswicks Wildlife Sanctuary and the preservation of Briar Bush Nature Center. The Club became a chapter of the National Audubon Society in 1968, and in 1977 it incorporated as the Wyncote Audubon Society. The Wyncote Audubon Society (Wyncote Bird Club) records, 1914-1993, include meeting minutes, financial records, membership records, activity files, several films, and other records of the organization.

Abstract:: The Woman's Club of Wyncote was organized in 1898 to form an organized center for the intellectual and social development of its members, and to promote such public measures as shall be conducive to the welfare of the community. Its programs were devoted to literary subjects and interests. The bulk of the Woman's Club of Wyncote records, 1898-2005, is scrapbooks compiled by member Flavia Witte. There are also some minute books, account ledgers, membership lists, and other manuscript volumes.

Abstract:: Henry C. Gibson (1830-1891), one of the wealthiest men in Philadelphia in his time, indulged liberally in collecting art and philanthropic causes. His son, J. Howard Gibson, lived from about 1855 until about 1894. J. Howard's grandson, Henry C. Gibson, Jr. (born circa 1922), established a firm to explore commercial uses of atomic energy in Palm Beach, Florida. The Gibson family papers, 1860-1955, primarily concern John Howard Gibson and his father Henry Clay Gibson, with some material on other family members. It consists mostly of family scrapbooks and memorabilia.
