Abstract:: The Reading family is one of the oldest families in Hatboro Township, Pennsylvania, dating back to about 1780. Thomas Reading operated several mills in the Hatboro area in the mid-19th century, and members of his family also operated a general store. The Reading family ledgers, 1831-1910, includes two ledgers for several mills operated by Thomas Reading, 1856-1874, and four day-books for a general store operated by the Reading family, 1831-1881.

Abstract:: The Yerkes family in Hatboro, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, dates back to the early 1800s. They were retail merchants, preachers, politicians, lawyers, hotel owners, medical doctors, farmers, and teachers. The Yerkes family papers, 1791-1993, contains deeds, speeches, correspondence, marriage certificates, newspapers and clippings, an account book, and photographs.

Abstract:: Both John W. Ridpath (a Jenkintown pharmacist, newspaper publisher, and borough government official) and his son, William M. Ridpath (an engineer), were amateur photographers. The John W. and William M. Ridpath photographs, 1890-1935, consist mostly of glass plate negatives, with some contact prints and (film) slides created later. John W. Ridpath's photographs include local scenes of eastern Montgomery County as well as some domestic scenes of late Victorian home-life. William M. Ridpath's photographs document his work on the construction of the Panama Canal as well as aspects of life in Panama.

Abstract:: The John B. Harper glass negatives, circa 1890-1920, consist of about 300 glass plate negatives donated by John B. Harper. The photographer is unknown. About ten of the images are of local scenes in the vicinity of eastern Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The remainder depict unidentified people and sites.

Abstract:: Henry C. Gibson (1830-1891), one of the wealthiest men in Philadelphia in his time, indulged liberally in collecting art and philanthropic causes. His son, J. Howard Gibson, lived from about 1855 until about 1894. J. Howard's grandson, Henry C. Gibson, Jr. (born circa 1922), established a firm to explore commercial uses of atomic energy in Palm Beach, Florida. The Gibson family papers, 1860-1955, primarily concern John Howard Gibson and his father Henry Clay Gibson, with some material on other family members. It consists mostly of family scrapbooks and memorabilia.

Abstract:: The Cox, Ross, and Robinson families were important Pennsylvania families active in early Philadelphia and Bucks Counties, and later in the development of Hatboro in Montgomery County. The Cox-Robinson-Ross family papers, 1669-1980, include letters, financial and property records, business papers, photographs, scrapbooks, architectural drawings, and research materials documenting several generations.
