Abstract:
Diaries of William C. Allen's religious visits around the world from 1904 to 1937. Entries generally describe the customs, manners, language, transportation, food, and religious beliefs of each location Allen visited, as well as Quaker meetings he lead and religious and political leaders he met with in each place he visited. One volume of the collection does not record a religious visit, but is a record of Allen's thoughts on World War I, which he kept during 1917.

Abstract:
Clyde Mitchell Schuck of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, was a World War II veteran and a long-time employee of Campbell Soup Company. During World War II, he attained the rank of Infantry Major and was aide to General Eichelberger, commander of the U.S. Eighth Army in the Pacific Theater. The Clyde M. Schuck papers, 1923-1961 (bulk 1942-1945), primarily consist of wartime letters to his wife. The collection also contains a wartime photograph album, some of Schuck's service records, and scattered documents dating from other times in his life.

Don Oberdorfer Papers, 1930-2012 (inclusive) 1978-2008 (bulk)

Abstract:
Don Oberdorfer (1931-2015) worked as a journalist for nearly four decades; twenty-five of those years were as a staff member at the Washington Post, where he served as White House correspondent (1968-1972), Northeast Asia correspondent (1972-1975), and diplomatic correspondent (1976-1993). The collection is mostly composed of Oberdorfer's notebooks that chronicle his assignments with the Post, as well as his work post-retirement. The collection also consists of transcripts of interviews conducted by Oberdorfer with both American and Soviet foreign policy officials for his book The Turn: From the Cold War to a New Era, The United States and the Soviet Union, 1983-1990 (Poseidon Press, 1991, and Touchstone Press, 1992). Henry George family papers, circa 1844-2000 (bulk 1880-1950)

Abstract:
Henry George (1839-1897) was a journalist and political economist best known for writing about and popularizing the idea of the "single tax." His work led to several reform movements in the Progressive Era and inspired the economic philosophy known today as "Georgism." Two of George's children, Henry George Jr. and Anna George de Mille, continued to be active in the single tax movement and promoting their father's legacy after his death in 1897. The Henry George family papers, circa 1844-2000 (bulk 1880-1950), consist of correspondence, published and unpublished works, and other materials from and about Henry George, Henry George Jr., and Agnes George de Mille. There are also photographs, prints, and illustrations of the George family and of Anna George de Mille's family.

Abstract:
Henry Augustus Pilsbry, Dean of American Malacologists, was the conservator, curator and head of the Department of Shells at the Academy of Natural Sciences for 70 years. He was also the internationally recognized authority in the field of land mollusks. He wrote and edited many volumes of the Manual of Conchology and from 1889 until his death was an editor of the journal Nautilus, which he founded. A member of many scientific expeditions, he traveled all over the United States, to the Caribbean, South America, Mexico, Hawaii and other Pacific Islands, and to Australia. This collection contains the professional papers of Henry A. Pilsbry between the years 1885 and 1957. The bulk of this collection consists of Pilsbry’s working files and drafts of published material that came from those files, including a draft of the second volume of Land Mollusks of North America.
