Abstract:

Jessie May Scott was a prominent federal nursing leader, serving as Director of the Division of Nursing and Assistant Surgeon General. She administrated the Nurse Training Acts of 1964 and directed federal programs for nursing that improved the quality of education and practice. This collection of papers spans Scott’s professional career, documenting her experience with the Division of Nursing, Public Health Service from 1955-1979.
