Abstract:
The Women’s Club of Frankford was originally founded as the Mother's Club of Frankford by a group of five women in 1905 in the Frankford neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Mother's Club was established with the vision of improving the welfare of children in the community. The Club officially became the Women's Club of Frankford in 1921, and affiliated with the General Federation of Women's Clubs and the State Federation of Women's Clubs. The Club was active until 2008. The Women's Club of Frankford records, 1923-2008, consist of minute books, financial records, newsletters, event programs, pamphlets, correspondence, scrapbooks, and other materials from the Women's Club of Frankford. There are also materials from the junior section of the club, the Junior Women's Club of Frankford.

Originally a village, Frankford was incorporated as a borough in 1800 and was later absorbed into the City of Philadelphia in the 1854 Philadelphia city/county consolidation. As of 2015, Frankford is a working-class neighborhood with a diverse population, including a large number of African Americans, Asian Americans, Polish Americans, Italian Americans, Hispanic Americans, and West Indian Americans. The Historical Society of Frankford scrapbook and photograph album collection, 1826-1975, consists of various scrapbooks and photograph albums that document the people, businesses, organizations, and general history of Frankford and Northeast Philadelphia.

Frankford High School is a public high school in the School District of Philadelphia, serving the neighborhoods of Bridesburg and Frankford in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Frankford High School was established in 1910 as the Northeast branch of Central High School, known as Central High School North. In 1916, the school relocated from a neighborhood farmhouse to a building at the corner of Oxford Avenue and Wakeling Street. As of 2015, Frankford High School remains located at the corner of Oxford Avenue and Wakeling Street and continues its mission "to provide all students with the academic, technological, and social skills needed to be productive and contributing members in our society." Tomlinson, Foehr, and Peters families papers, 1870-1970 (bulk) 1713-1998 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Ritner W. Tomlinson (1880-1949) was raised on his family's farm in the Bustleton neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ritner married Caroline F. Foehr (1890-1981) in 1911 and together they had four children: twins Isabel R. (1915-2010) and Esther R. (1915-1938), Ritner Pierson "Buddy" (1922-1944), and Thelma Claire (1924-2006). Ritner and Caroline raised their family on the Tomlinson Farm, which Ritner had inherited from his parents in the 1920s. In the mid-1930s, the Tomlinsons lost this farm due to financial difficulties, and relocated to another farm property in nearby Huntingdon Valley (Montgomery County). The Tomlinson, Foehr, and Peters families papers, 1713-1998 (bulk 1870-1970), consist of photographs, legal and financial documents, correspondence, diaries, ephemera, and other materials related to the Tomlinson, Foehr, and Peters families. The bulk of the material is from the Tomlinson family and predominately relates to Ritner W., his wife Caroline, and their children.

Rehoboth Methodist Episcopal Church in the Frankford Section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is known as the "mother church" of Frankford Methodism. It traces its roots to the first "Methodist Society" in the community, established in 1829. In 2001, Rehoboth merged into Central United Methodist Church, which closed in 2005. The Rehoboth Methodist Episcopal Church records, 1832-2007, include financial records, membership and cemetery records, class lists, board and trustee minutes, anniversary materials, worship bulletins, newsletters, photographs, ephemera, and various other documents. Some materials have been microfilmed and are available at other repositories.

J. Friend Lodge collection on Abraham Lincoln, the Civil War, and Americana, circa 19th century-1940s (bulk 1860s-1940s)

Abstract:
John Friend Lodge (1870-1944) was the proprietor of a cotton yarn manufacturing company in the Frankford neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Lodge invented a device for removing kinks from yarn and threads and was granted a patent for the device in 1911. Lodge was also a collector of Lincolniana, Civil War memorabilia, and signatures of well-known Americans, amassing a large collection before his death in 1944. The J. Friend Lodge collection on Abraham Lincoln, the Civil War, and Americana, circa 19th century-1940s (bulk 1860s-1940s), consists primarily of published books on the topics of Abraham Lincoln, the American Civil War, and well-known Americans. Also in the collection are sixteen volumes with signatures and some images of famous Americans, pamphlets and booklets relating to Abraham Lincoln or the American Civil War, photographs, newspaper clippings, Civil War and Americana artifacts, and other materials.
