Abstract:: Settled by Quakers beginning in 1680, the small town of Langhorne in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, grew as an important transportation center between Trenton and Philadelphia due to its location at the intersection of major roads connecting the two cities. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the town, which served as a stop along the rail line, became a popular summer vacation destination for wealthy Philadelphians. Abstract:: The Langhorne Building and Loan Association was organized on March 10, 1879 with 600 shares. It was reorganized and incorporated in 1904 as Langhorne Building and Loan Association No. 2. The Langhorne Building and Loan Association records, 1879-1952, document roughly 75 years of the organization's history since its founding. The collection consists of constitution and bylaws, minutes, shareholders lists and annual statements, stock ledgers and certificates, certificates of transfer, as well as financial reports, statements, and audits.

Abstract:: Settled by Quakers beginning in 1680, the small town of Langhorne in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, became an important transportation center between Trenton and Philadelphia. Harvey G. Wells, a stone mason, and his son Gilbert R. Wells, a contractor and builder, were involved in a significant amount of construction in the town during its growth from the mid-19th to the early 20th century. The Wells family papers, 1845-1959, consist primarily of the business records of Harvey G. Wells and Gilbert R. Wells. Records include account books, lists of jobs and workers, daybooks, and land agreements, as well as financial papers such as cashbooks. The collection also includes some Wells family papers and ephemera.

Abstract:: Settled by the Dutch, Swedes, and English, Bensalem Township in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, was a farming community until the 1950s and 1960s when the area underwent a significant amount of suburban development. The Historical Society of Bensalem Township subject files, circa 1900-2013, consist of vertical files and binders focusing on local history subjects. The materials are primarily photocopies of primary-source documents and secondary-source articles. There is a fair amount of original materials as well, including newspaper clippings, photographs, ephemera, and other miscellaneous materials.

Abstract:: Hannah B. Lester (b. 1815) was a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) who lived in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. Abram Carn was the proprietor of a general store and post office in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania. The Carn-Buchanan family papers, 1817-1897, are made up of personal correspondence of Hannah B. Lester and three receipt books attributed to Abram Carn and an unknown person with the surname Donut.

Abstract:: Established in 1721, Hilltown Township (Bucks County, Pennsylvania) remained a farming community up until the end of World War II. Construction of large housing developments started at the end of the 1970s. The Hilltown Township tax assessments and checks, 1962-1992, consist primarily of various tax assessments, including real estate and occupation assessment roles and tax reports of the township, from the early to mid-1960s and the late 1980s to early 1990s. The collection also includes Hilltown Township General Tax Fund cancelled checks, check stubs, and bank account information, 1963-1966.

Abstract:: Edward Mathews (1837-1916) was a newspaper writer and local historian of Montgomery and Bucks counties in Pennsylvania. The Edward Mathews papers, 1856-1915, consists of newspaper clippings scrapbooks, notebooks and diaries, and a manuscript for Mathews's memoir.
