Abstract:: The Philadelphia, Newtown and New York Railroad Company, originally incorporated as the Philadelphia and Montgomery County Railroad in 1860, was to provide service between Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Jersey City, New Jersey with easy access to New York. After the company failed, the railway was operated by the Reading Company and Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) until SEPTA terminated service in 1983. Richard N. Mansley manuscript, drawings, and research materials on Philadelphia, Newtown and New York Railroad, circa 1960-2013, covers the history of the railway line from its founding until 1984. The collection includes a typewritten manuscript, The Newtown Railroad Reel, as well as the materials Mansley created and compiled during his research. There are also over 200 scale drawings of the stations, shelters, structures, signs and signals of the railroad that Mansley created.

Abstract:: Newtown, the county seat of Bucks County from 1726 to 1813, is one of the most historic areas in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Although it is unknown when the first school in Newtown was established, public and private schools flourished during the 19th century. In 1946, as mandated by the Commonwealth, Newtown became part of the extensive Council Rock School District. The Newtown Historic Association collection on Newtown schools, 1764-2013 (bulk 1900-2013) consists of records of the School Board, including minute books, account books, and treasurer's records. There are also a significant number of photographs of buildings, activities, students, and graduating classes as well as a collection of photographs of most of the one room school houses in Bucks County.

Abstract:: New Hope in Bucks County, Pennsylvania is at the half-way point between Philadelphia and New York City along Old York Road. The borough was incorporated in 1837. The New Hope Historical Society oral history and lecture recordings, 1983-2012, consist of 100 audiocassette tapes of oral history interviews, and numerous CDs of a lecture series on New Hope history.

Abstract:: The Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust was established as the Pennypack Watershed Association in 1970. A public non-profit organization, it was dedicated to providing a unified approach for implementing sound environmental goals for the 56 square-mile Pennypack Creek area that extends through the suburbs of Bucks and eastern Montgomery Counties and into the highly urbanized areas of Northeast Philadelphia. The Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust records, 1971-2009, chiefly consist of minutes reporting on land acquisition, finances, and programs and activities. There are also miscellaneous records relating to the organization's activities.

Abstract:: Hartzell-Crouthamel Post No. 280 (Perkasie, Pa.) of the American Legion was founded shortly after World War I in 1919 and granted a charter on August 1, 1920. The Post's Auxiliary was organized in 1921. The American Legion Hartzell-Crouthamel Post No. 280 (Perkasie, Pa.) records, 1923-1991 (bulk 1925-1969), consist largely of minute books, account books, membership records, photographs, and certificates. Also included are some records from the Auxiliary to Hartzell-Crouthamel Post, No. 280, and junior auxiliary membership applications.

Abstract:: Many men and women from Perkasie, Bucks County, Pennsylvania and the surrounding area served in the military during World War I and World War II. The Perkasie Historical Society World Wars collection, 1917-2001 (bulk 1917-1946), primarily consists of photograph albums and clippings scrapbooks that document their involvement. It also includes pamphlets, ephemera, ration books and cards, training manuals, and printed histories of various military divisions. Of special interest is a scrapbook with photographs of all of the WWI servicemen from Perkasie and short typed biographies about each soldier's service.

The site of William Penn's 'Perkasie Manor,' the town was incorporated in 1879 and by the turn of the 20th century had become the third largest station on the North Penn railroad line. The Perkasie Historical Society photograph collection, circa 1880-2000, consists of various photographs of local people, events, buildings, organizations, and other subjects. Most of the photographs are original photographic prints; there are also some photocopies, glass plate negatives, slides, and oversized photographs.
