Abstract:: Newtown was the county seat of Bucks County, Pennsylvania from 1726 to 1813. The Newtown Historic Association vertical files, circa 1960-2013, consist primarily of photocopied newspaper clippings, with some copies of primary source documents, ephemera, and other materials. The collection is organized into four series: People, Subjects, Streets, and Obituaries.

Abstract:: The Newtown Reliance Company for the Detecting and Apprehending of Horse Thieves and Other Villains, founded in 1819, is the third oldest 'Horse Company' in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The organization still meets, primarily for fellowship, as of 2013. The Newtown Historic Association collection on Newtown Reliance Company and other horse protection companies, 1819-1992, contains records of the Newtown Reliance Company; research, publications, and ephemera on Newtown Reliance Company and other horse protection societies (mostly compiled by historian Edward R. Barnsley); and a small amount of original records of other horse protection societies.

Abstract:: Organized in November 1895 and federated the following year, the Newtown New Century Club was a literary club that was also involved in civic affairs and community service. The Newtown New Century Club records, 1895-1980, document over 80 years of the Club's history through minute books, treasurer's books, financial and legal papers, officer lists, scrapbooks, correspondence, and programs and ephemera.

Abstract:: A.W. and W.M. Watson Lumber Company was founded in Newtown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania in 1872. The company was acquired by Frost Lumber in 1953 and became Frost-Watson Lumber Corporation. The A.W. and W.M. Watson Company mill work order forms, 1918-2003 (bulk 1918-1922), consist of two large volumes of mill work order forms, 1918-1922, as well as several items of ephemera.

Abstract:: Charles Savidge (1835-1908) married Sarah Hutchinson Morris (1864-1914), with whom he had two children: Morris Savidge (1895-1979) and Clarence Savidge (1900-1986). The family lived in Newtown (Bucks County, Pennsylvania), where they owned and operated Savidge Brothers retail store for over a century. The Savidge family papers, circa 1875-1970, consist mostly of personal papers, particularly relating to Morris and Clarence. The collection includes letters from Morris to his brother while the former was in military training and active duty in France during World War I as well as related photographs. Other materials in the collection include an album of funeral cards and calling cards/invitations, family photo albums, and some correspondence, financial papers, and ephemera relating to other family members.
