Abstract:: Established in 1926, Fleetwings, Inc. was an aircraft components factory that moved from Long Island, New York to Bristol, Bucks County, Pennsylvania in 1934. Due to the company's success during World War II, Henry J. Kaiser's Kaiser Industries invested in the company and renamed it Kaiser-Fleetwings Corp.; the company folded in 1962. James M. (Jim) Shimer, Jr. (1914-2007) worked there as a technical illustrator. The James M. Shimer Kaiser-Fleetwings papers, 1942-1958, consists of materials relating to James M. Shimer's work as a technical illustrator for Kaiser-Fleetwings. There are a large number of Shimer's drawings of aircrafts, blueprints, technical specifications, photographs of aircraft and of models, and promotional brochures for the aircraft, as well as some of Shimer's employment records and various employee newsletters and publications.

Abstract:: Joseph Edward Pavone (1928-2010) was an artist and prominent figure in the cultural and heritage community of Bristol, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The Joseph Edward Pavone papers, 1927-2000 (bulk 1960-1995), contain clippings, slides, photographs, notes, drawings, organizational records, and other materials relating to Pavone's life and work. Photographs and slides documenting Pavone's artistic works, particularly the Christopher Columbus monument, form the largest portion of the collection. Of subsequent note are records and photographs pertaining to the founding of the Radcliffe Art Gallery and the Bristol Cultural and Historical Foundation.

Abstract:: Henry A. Liese (1914-2003) was an aircraft manufacturer who cofounded the Lavelle Company that created the world's first weather satellite. Prior to founding this company, Liese worked for Fleetwings, Inc., an aircraft and aircraft components company located in Bristol, Pennsylvania that was very active during World War II. The Henry A. Liese collection, 1944-1981, consist of a large number of photographic prints relating to Fleetwings; photocopies of articles dealing with Fleetwings and the aircraft industry; and some original materials relating to Keystone Aircraft Corporation.

Abstract:: On March 1, 1901, Mrs. Emlen Martin organized the Travel Club of Bristol, Pennsylvania with sixteen charter members. The initial mission of the Travel Club was "the general improvement of its members in history, literature, art, and the vital interests of the day," but its objective soon changed to include its desire to be more service oriented toward the community. Throughout its existence, the Travel Club of Bristol supported various organizations, including the Bristol Junior-Senior High School, Washington Crossing Foundation, and Lower Bucks Hospital. In 1995, due to low membership, the group voted to disband the Travel Club and donate its remaining funds. The Travel Club of Bristol (Pa.) records, 1901-1995, document the group’s history and activities through financial and administrative records, scrapbooks, and various other materials such as correspondence, photographs, and ephemera.
