Abstract:
Albert S. Beers, Sr. (1864-1938) and his son, Albert S. Beers, Jr. (1895-1979) operated funeral homes at 529 W. Jefferson St. in Philadelphia and 67-69 E. Baltimore Ave in Lansdowne, Pa. They sold the Lansdowne location in 1948 to William D. Johnston. Johnston Funeral Home continues to operate there as of 2013. This collection includes records from Johnston Funeral Home and the funeral home that previously operated on the same premises, Beers Funeral Home. The Johnston Funeral Home and Beers Funeral Home records, 1904-1994, consist primarily of invoices/statements for funerals and funeral registers. There is also a small amount of correspondence and a few miscellaneous documents.

The Minister's Association of Chester and Vicinity was formed in 1919 to promote brotherhood amongst ministers of various Protestant denomination, and to increase effectiveness in working toward common goals through cooperation. The Ministers' Association of Chester and Vicinity records, 1918-1963, consist primarily of minutes, correspondence, newspaper clippings, member lists, financial information, and other records, 1918-1946. There is a small amount of material from local Councils on Churches, including committee and attendance reports, 1952-1963.

Greater Media Area Auxiliary, American Leprosy Missions records, 1914-2011 (inclusive)

Abstract:
The Greater Media Area Auxiliary of American Leprosy Missions, initially called the Media Auxiliary of the Mission to Lepers in India and the East, was founded in 1914 by a group of women in Media, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. The goals of the auxiliary were to assist its parent organization by providing information about leprosy worldwide and helping to sponsor overseas efforts to help cure and rehabilitate those afflicted with the disease. The auxiliary dissolved in 2010. The Greater Media Area Auxiliary, American Leprosy Missions records, 1914-2011, consist of minutes, correspondence, clippings, ephemera, and a few photographs, documenting the group's fundraising and outreach efforts. It provides some accounts of mission work abroad.

The New Century Club of Chester, part of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, was founded in 1893 in the city of Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. In addition to holding lectures and classes for members on science, literature, languages, and other topics, the club established a free kindergarten and was involved in other philanthropic projects. The New Century Club of Chester records, 1893-1993, include annual reports, guest books, materials about the building and selling of the clubhouse, clippings, and other materials.

Abstract:
Darby Borough is located west of Cobbs Creek in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. The village of Darby had its first town meeting in 1683 and was incorporated as a borough in 1852. Nicknamed "The Gateway To The South" because of its status as a popular way station for travelers between Baltimore and Philadelphia, Darby was also an important stop for many freedom seekers on the Underground Railroad. The Darby Free Library local history collection, 1873-2014 (bulk 1970-2000), consists mostly of secondary-source materials, such as newspaper clippings, photocopies, computer print outs, color photographs from the late 20th century, flyers and pamphlets, and ephemera. There are also some original, primary-source documents, and a few maps and about half a dozen atlases of Darby, Delaware County, and vicinity.

Abstract:
Founded in 1902 in Collingdale, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, Eden Cemetery is one of the oldest continually active African-American owned cemeteries in the United States and is the burial ground for many notable 19th century African-Americans. Throughout the twentieth century, remains from several African-American cemeteries in Philadelphia, PA were reinterred at Eden Cemetery in order to accommodate the expansion of the growing city. The Eden Cemetery interment records, 1902-2015, consist of interment books, deed and certificate books, section books, financial records, and legal papers that document the burials and lot sales at Eden Cemetery. The collection also includes the Cemetery's charter from 1902.

Haverford Township is a suburb of Philadelphia situated near the wealthy "Main Line" west of the city. It encompasses the community of Havertown and parts of Haverford, Bryn Mawr, Ardmore, Drexel Hill, and Wynnewood in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. The Haverford Township Historical Society photograph collection, 1895-2014, depicts the people, buildings, and scenery of Haverford Township (Delaware County, Pennsylvania). Buildings, especially historic sites, are particularly well represented, but there are also family photographs and photographs of other subjects.

Benjamin R. Hoffman papers on the Grange estate, 1906-circa 1983

Abstract:
Benjamin Rose Hoffman (1879-1958) and his wife Margaret Clawson (1891-1973) were wealthy Philadelphians who largely lived a life of leisure. In 1913 Benjamin Hoffman purchased the Grange, an historic estate in Havertown, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, that was built in 1700 and hosted several Revolutionary War heroes including George Washington. He and his wife were interested in horticulture and made many improvements to the gardens and grounds during their lifetimes. The Benjamin R. Hoffman papers on the Grange estate, 1906-circa 1983, consist primarily of correspondence and receipts regarding gardening and planting on the Grange, as well as blueprints, research notes, and other materials relating to the property, dating from the early-mid 20th century. Abstract:
The North Wayne Protective Association (NWPA) was organized in 1885 as a civic association. It was incorporated in 1890 and still exists as of 2014, making it the oldest continuing civic organization in the country. The NWPA was originally formed to improve the neighborhood by addressing issues such as street lighting and road paving, but over the years the Association has developed a wider range of activities for the community. The North Wayne Protective Association records, 1890-2003, contain financial and administrative records, including an almost complete set of meeting minutes; correspondence; printed materials, such as newsletters and flyers; photographs; and ephemera.

Abstract:
Radnor Township in Delaware County, Pennsylvania was founded in 1682, shortly after Welsh Quakers arrived on the lands previously home to the original inhabitants, the Lenni Lenape Indians. Development in the area increased when new transportation routes passed through the area, first the Lancaster Turnpike (the first toll road in America) in 1794, and then the Columbia (later Pennsylvania) Railroad in 1832. The township's population doubled between 1880 and 1890 with the birth of one of the country's first planned suburban developments, Wayne. Development and population boomed again in the wake of World War II and has continued to grow in the 21st century.
