Abstract:: The Sophia Wittenberg Mumford papers contain, correspondence, writings, diaries, photographs, memorabilia, audio-visual material, financial and legal material documenting the private and public life of Sophia and her husband, author Lewis Mumford. A large majority of this collection is remnants of Lewis Mumford's papers that remained in their house upon his death in 1990 and were finally transferred to the University of Pennsylvania after her death in 1997.

Abstract:: The Mütter Museum was founded in 1856 when Dr. Thomas Dent Mütter bequeathed his personal medical museum to the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. From Thomas Mütter’s collection, the museum grew as a noted repository for unique collections of medical specimens across the world. The Mütter Museum records document the history of this noted institution from 1887 until 2006. Included in the collection are catalogs of item acquisitions, visitor records, event records, and the papers of several museum curators. Researchers interested in the acquisition policies of the museum, as well as records of events and exhibits held at the Mutter should consult this collection. Additionally, the papers of Gretchen Worden are housed in this collection. The "Gretchen Worden" series contains many of her lectures, administrative material, and date books while serving as Curator and Director from 1982 until 2004. Abstract:: This volume was originally used as an account book, from 1794 to 1795, and was later repurposed as a diary or timeline of events, dated from 1826 to 1915. The section of the volume that acts as an account book includes an index, in which individuals are organized alphabetically, and entries record amounts paid or owned, the goods purchased, and the currency used. Goods listed are mainly dry goods and lumber, including: flour, "middling" (bulk goods of medium grade), hog feed, cornmeal, buckwheat, rye meal, and wooden boards. The second section of the volume acts as a timeline and diary for Joshua L. Baily. Included are entries concerning current events, such as terms of various presidents, the Orthodox-Hicksite separation, the emergence of the "Mormons" and their migration west, records of correspondence sent and received, and events in the Civil War and World War I.
