Overview and metadata sections

Woodbrooke, a Quaker study center in England, was founded in 1903. John Wilhelm Rowntree (1868-1905) had previously led a campaign amongst Friends for a permanent settlement for religious and social study. Within a few years, Quaker and local chocolate maker George Cadbury (1839-1922) had been inspired to offer his former home for this purpose.

The Woodbrookers in America, sometimes referred to as the "Old Woodbrookers," was a Quaker organization based in the United States that shared similar goals with the Woodbrooke Center in England.

The collection is comprised of the records of the Woodbrookers in America, and includes the organization's correspondence, member lists, meeting minutes, and the records of the treasurer.

The Woodbrookers in America records were donated to Special Collections, Haverford College in 2002 by Ian Jackson, Librarian, Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre.
