Abstract:
Harry Dixon Jr. (1944-2006), a lawyer from Nebraska, wanted to form an organization with the dual purpose of providing Congress with unbiased views on legislation and creating an institution that could keep the bankruptcy community aware of legislative activities affecting them. In February 1982, Dixon incorporated under Nebraska law this new organization which was to be called the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI). The records of the American Bankruptcy Institute document two main areas of the organization: the history and operating activities of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the organization's professional activities, publications, and research on bankruptcy related issues. The materials date from 1982-2013, with the bulk from 1985-1996. Principles of Corporate Governance records, 1981-1990 (inclusive)

Abstract:
In 1977, the American Law Institute (ALI) commissioned a review of the principles, customs, and laws that related to operating a corporation, known the Principles of Corporate Governance project. Work on the project culminated in 1992, when the ALI formally adopted the Principles of Corporate Governance. A set of reporter's notes, which reflected the analysis and scholarship of the reporters on the project, was published in 1994. The collection, 1981-1990, includes meeting records, drafts, letters, comments, and other records related to the drafting of the Principles of Corporate Governance, a project that aimed to summarize the conditions under which corporations lawfully conduct operations.

Lawrence Waggoner papers (Restatement of the Law), 1995-2010 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Lawrence Waggoner was a law professor who specialized in law reform in the field of wills, trusts, and future interests. In addition to teaching law for 44 years, he served as adviser for the Restatement (Third) of Trusts, reporter for the Restatement (Third) of Property, Wills, and Other Donative Transfers, director of research for the Joint Editorial Board for Uniform Trusts and Estates Acts, reporter for the Uniform Probate Code which he completed the revisions for in 2008, and the last volume of the Restatement (Third) of Property: Wills and Other Donative Transfers. He presented the draft of this at the annual meeting of the American Law Institute, May 2010. Vladimir B. Grinioff (1911-2001) was an economist for the Federal Reserve Board and the United States Department of State and an author. In 1957, Grinioff published Tale of a Whistling Shrimp which was later titled The Banker's Daughter. This collection contains cover art drafts, galley prints, original manuscripts, and revised manuscripts of Tale of a Whistling Shrimp.

Lee Eisenberg (born 1946), an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania, is an American writer and editor known for his time working for Esquire. Eisenberg was the senior editor and vice president of Esquire throughout the 1970s and 1980s and played a major role in the production of the 1984 50th Anniversary Edition of the magazine. This collection includes correspondence with almost half of the fifty famous people asked to write essays for the 50th anniversary issue as well as assorted notes, clippings, and article manuscripts, most of which relate to their contributions.

Daniel Hoffman letters to Judith Moffett, 1970-2012 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Daniel Hoffman (1923-2013) was an American poet and essayist whose lengthy career at the University of Pennsylvania (beginning in 1966) included acting as a dissertation director for Judith Moffett (born 1942), an American poet, English professor, Swedish translator, and author of twelve books. The collection covers the period from 1970, when Moffett was still a student at the University of Pennsylvania, to 2012, the year before Hoffman died. It includes letters and other correspondence addressed from Hoffman to Moffett, drafts and manuscripts of Hoffman's literary work, and a manuscript and posthumously published copy of a book of poems by Hoffman's wife, Elizabeth McFarland.

Abstract:
The Melvin Benarde papers collection is a set of typescript drafts of books written and edited by Melvin Benarde. Benarde is the author of ten books on the topic of humanity's effect on the environment and a professor in the Graduate Program in Industrial Hygiene at Temple University, the Department of Community Medicine at Hahnemann Medical School, and the Environmental Studies Institute at Drexel University. The typescripts are annotated, some heavily and some with copy edits and instructions to typesetters. Titles include Race Against Famine, Our Precarious Habitat, Disinfection, and The Chemicals we Eat.
