John J. Johnston worked as a messenger for George R. Stearns, the Director of Public Works in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania during the tenure of Philadelphia Mayor, John E. Reyburn, 1907-1911. The John J. Johnston scrapbooks on the City of Philadelphia public works and administration, 1907-1911, consist of six scrapbooks compiled by John J. Johnston. The scrapbooks consist of newspaper clippings documenting the Philadelphia city administration.
