Abstract:
Dorothy Burr Thompson (1900 – 2001) was a prominent archaeologist who graduated from Bryn Mawr in 1923. She specialized in Greek terracotta. Burr Thompson and her husband, Homer A. Thompson, were both heavily involved with the American School of Classical Studies in Athens. The collection includes her diaries, personal correspondence, and professional papers. It also includes contains both personal and research related photographs and postcards.

Andrew H. Woods papers, 1885-1956 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Andrew H. Woods (1872 – 1956) became vice president of Canton College in Guangzhou, China in 1899. He maintained his association with Canton Christian College throughout the Boxer Rebellion, or Yihetuan Movement, and the end of the Qing dynasty. Woods moved back and forth between China and the United States with his wife, Fanny Sinclair, who graduated from Bryn Mawr in 1901. In 1929, the couple and their children settled in Iowa. In Iowa, Woods worked as a professor and practitioner of neurology and psychology. Andrew H. Woods' papers include diaries which describe his personal life and professional life in China and in the United States, photographs and postcards, much of Agnes Sinclair's personal correspondence, his articles, and various papers.

Abstract:
Katharine Shepard (1905-1986) attended Bryn Mawr College in the late 1920s and early 1930's, and received degrees in Latin, Classical Archaeology, and Greek. She went on to a career in archaeology, and was employed by the National Gallery of Art. The Katharine Shepard Papers contains letters to and from her family and friends, primarily from her many trips abroad, as well as a few family momentos.

Harris Wofford papers, 1940-1990 (inclusive)

Abstract:
As a former United States Senator from Pennsylvania, chair of America's Promise, CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service, and Special Assistant to President John F. Kennedy, Harris Wofford dedicated much of his career and personal life to advocating for public service. The Harris Wofford papers contain over 400 linear feet of extensive notes, research files, writings, correspondence, political papers and audio/visual recordings documenting an impressive career of a citizen passionate about activism. While not entirely complete in its scope of Wofford's life due to many key records from the 1960s being lost in a fire early in his career, the collection nonetheless provides an invaluable resource for those interested in politics, human rights, public service, education, and law. Abstract:
The Deanery was the home of the first Dean and second President of Bryn Mawr College, M. Carey Thomas, from 1885 to 1933. From 1933 until 1968, when the building was demolished for the construction of Canaday Library, the building served as the college's Alumnae Center and Inn. The collection is comprised primarily of Deanery records, mostly inventories of the building, and the files of Carol Campbell, Curator of Art and Artifacts in Bryn Mawr College's Special Collections

Laura Knipe collection of cartoons, 1949-1953 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Laura Elizabeth Knipe (1932-2010) was a graduate of Bryn Mawr College (Class of 1953). Throughout her time as an undergraduate she produced numerous cartoon drawings based on her and her friends' experiences as Bryn Mawr students. Many of her witty cartoons good naturedly mock their own study habits, life in the Rockefeller Dorm, academics, particularly the Anthropology and Geology departments, and their social antics and misadventures. This collection, donated to Bryn Mawr College by one of Knipe's closest Bryn Mawr friends, Eula Wulfjen Harmon Hoff (Class of 1952), is comprised of over 100 of Knipe's drawings, including drafts and copies. Hoff has also provided commentary on the categorically organized drawings.
