Abstract:
The Frankford neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is located in the lower northeast section of the city and is bordered by the Frankford Creek on the south, Castor Avenue on the west, Cheltenham Avenue on the north, and roughly the I-95 expressway on the east. Originally a village, Frankford was incorporated as a borough in 1800 and was later absorbed into the City of Philadelphia in the 1854 Philadelphia city/county consolidation. As of 2015, Frankford is a working-class neighborhood with a diverse population, including a large number of African Americans, Asian Americans, Polish Americans, Italian Americans, Hispanic Americans, and West Indian Americans. Active from the late 1970s to 2009, the Frankford Group Ministry (FGM) was a community-based urban ministry of four United Methodist Churches working cooperatively to improve the quality of life for the community of Frankford, a neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Frankford Ministry Group records, 1992-2009, consist of financial and administrative records, ephemera, photographs, and research materials produced by the Frankford Ministry Group.

Abstract:
The Women’s Club of Frankford was originally founded as the Mother's Club of Frankford by a group of five women in 1905 in the Frankford neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Mother's Club was established with the vision of improving the welfare of children in the community. The Club officially became the Women's Club of Frankford in 1921, and affiliated with the General Federation of Women's Clubs and the State Federation of Women's Clubs. The Club was active until 2008. The Women's Club of Frankford records, 1923-2008, consist of minute books, financial records, newsletters, event programs, pamphlets, correspondence, scrapbooks, and other materials from the Women's Club of Frankford. There are also materials from the junior section of the club, the Junior Women's Club of Frankford.

Northeast News Gleaner records, circa 1970s-2007

Abstract:
The Frankford News Gleaner was a community newspaper founded in 1882 by George W. Henry to serve the neighborhood of Frankford in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The News Gleaner grew to serve greater Northeast Philadelphia and later became known as the Northeast News Gleaner. The paper was owned and operated by the Henry family until it was sold to the Journal Register Company in 2002. At the end of 2008, the paper ceased operations. The Northeast News Gleaner records, circa 1970s-2007, consist primarily of photographs used for publication in the Northeast News Gleaner. It also includes negatives; financial records, circa 1970s-2000s; and about 75 whole issues of the News Gleaner, circa 1970s-1980s. There is also a small portion of materials, circa 1990s-2000s, from Nicetown Life, a small local publication serving the Nicetown neighborhood of North Philadelphia.

Abstract:
Rehoboth Methodist Episcopal Church in the Frankford Section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is known as the "mother church" of Frankford Methodism. It traces its roots to the first "Methodist Society" in the community, established in 1829. In 2001, Rehoboth merged into Central United Methodist Church, which closed in 2005. The Rehoboth Methodist Episcopal Church records, 1832-2007, include financial records, membership and cemetery records, class lists, board and trustee minutes, anniversary materials, worship bulletins, newsletters, photographs, ephemera, and various other documents. Some materials have been microfilmed and are available at other repositories.

Globe Dye Works, established in 1865 by Richard Greenwood and William Bault, was a textile dying plant located in the Frankford neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania specializing in the bleaching and dying of yard and thread. The plant was owned and operated by the Greenwood family until its closure in 2005. The Globe Dye Works records, 1865-2005, consist of financial and administrative records, employee records, board and stockholder meeting minutes, maps, scrapbooks, photographs, photograph albums, property documents relating to the ownership and sales of the Globe Dye Works and Greenwood family properties, and other materials.

The Magarie Andrews Smith family papers, 1899-2001, consist of funeral programs, photographs, and other materials that relate to Magarie Edwards, her family, and the Frankford section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The bulk of the collection consists of late twentieth-century funeral programs for members of the African American community of Frankford.

Tomlinson, Foehr, and Peters families papers, 1870-1970 (bulk) 1713-1998 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Ritner W. Tomlinson (1880-1949) was raised on his family's farm in the Bustleton neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ritner married Caroline F. Foehr (1890-1981) in 1911 and together they had four children: twins Isabel R. (1915-2010) and Esther R. (1915-1938), Ritner Pierson "Buddy" (1922-1944), and Thelma Claire (1924-2006). Ritner and Caroline raised their family on the Tomlinson Farm, which Ritner had inherited from his parents in the 1920s. In the mid-1930s, the Tomlinsons lost this farm due to financial difficulties, and relocated to another farm property in nearby Huntingdon Valley (Montgomery County). The Tomlinson, Foehr, and Peters families papers, 1713-1998 (bulk 1870-1970), consist of photographs, legal and financial documents, correspondence, diaries, ephemera, and other materials related to the Tomlinson, Foehr, and Peters families. The bulk of the material is from the Tomlinson family and predominately relates to Ritner W., his wife Caroline, and their children.
