Abstract:

This collection includes personal correspondence between Rebecca J. Edwards and her family. Correspondents include Griffith Edwards, Joseph Johnson, and Benjamin Johnson.

Rebecca J. Edwards, the daughter of Joseph Johnson, was born a Quaker in 1802. She married Griffith Edwards Sr. in 1821 at Philadelphia Monthly Meeting. After the death of her husband seven years later, Rebecca and her three children moved to Three River Monthly Meeting in Indiana. The family returned briefly to Philadelphia in 1835-36. In 1839 she married Benjamin Mason at Whitewater, Indiana. She died at Maplegrove in 1884.
