Overview and metadata sections

Alson D. Van Wagner was born October 11, 1915. In 1924, his family joined Clinton Corners Monthly Meeting of the Society of Friends, and in 1952 he married Irene Hoskins (1914-2002), the daughter of a Quaker minister. A graduate of the Oakwood School and Earlham College, he operated a poultry business on the family farm in Dutchess County, N.Y. After retirement, Alson and Irene Van Wagner opened a camera shop and pursued their interests in Quaker concerns and local history. Alson Van Wagner died December 15, 2001, and Irene Van Wagner died three weeks later.

Contains research, drafts and correspondence collected by Alson D. Van Wagner concerning two New York Yearly Meeting publications, Quaker Crosscurrents: Three Hundred Years of Friends in the New York Yearly Meeting, published in 1995, and New York Yearly Meeting Directory 1993. Of particular interest is the research done on identifying New York Yearly Meeting women ministers.
