He received his license as a Certified Public Accountant in both New York and Pennsylvania and, in 1969, joined the Alexander Grant & Company (now Grant Thornton) as a partner in New York. During a trip to Israel in the 1960s, Paul Neuwirth began to collect Israeli coins and medals, specifically from the Israel Government Coins and Medals Corporation. In 1976, Neuwirth joined the Alexander Grant & Company's office in Philadelphia, where he has lived ever since. In addition to working as a Certified Public Accountant, Neuwirth taught at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania as an adjunct lecturer, starting in 1979, for about thirty years.
Paul Neuwirth wrote and edited books including Attorney's Handbook of Accounting and Cashin's Handbook for Auditors, and published articles such as, "How Middle Market Companies in the Delaware Valley View Their Commercial Banks," "Ensuring the Survival of the Family-Owned Business," and "Computer Forecasting – No More Surprises." The Paul D. Neuwirth collection of Israeli coins and medals consists of around 300 coins primarily produced by the Israel Government Coins and Medals Corporation, Israel Government Coins and Medals (IGCMC) and the American Israel Numismatic Association (AINA), dating from 1960 to 2019. In addition to the coins, the collection includes mass mailings relating to the Israel Government Coins and Medals Corporation and the AINA, dating from 1986 to 2000. These mailings include free coins, brochures about their products, and backstories about their special coin series.
The Paul D. Neuwirth collection of Israeli coins and medals consists of five series: I. Anniversary of Independence, II. Hannukkah Menorah, III. Israel State Medals & Official Award Medals, IV. Mass mailings relating to the Israel Government Coins and Medals Corporation, and V. Tokens.
