Overview and metadata sections
Miss F. L. Benedict owned and probably compiled this album. Neither the history of Miss Benedict nor the occasion for which she traveled across the Southwest collecting these specimens are known.
This collection consists of one dried flower album. The pressed leaf and flower specimens were probably collected by the owner of the album, Miss F. L. Benedict, and were collected from March-May 1883, mostly in California, with some samples from "en route to San Antonio"; Arizona; Arkansas; and San Antonio, Texas. The pressed and dried plants have handwritten captions. Most are captioned with place and/or date.
This album is part of the Caroline F. Schimmel Collection of Women in the American Wilderness.
