This is a finding aid. It is a description of archival material held at the University of Pennsylvania: Kislak Center for Special Collections, Rare Books and Manuscripts. Overview and metadata sections

A parchment bound volume comprised of culinary and wine recipes written by and unnamed author in England spanning the years from 1824 to 1871. Cooking recipes include biscuits, cakes, fish dishes, marmalades, meat dishes, picklings, puddings, and sauces. Recipes of note include Bakewell pudding, egg cake, fish stuffing, German dumplings, pumpkin marmalade, Southwell sauce, and Spatten cakes. There are many recipes for various wines including blackberry, currant, damson, ginger, gooseberry, grape, Maderia, maison, noyau, and raisin. There are variant recipes for some wines. A few medicinal recipes such as for coughs and rheumatism are included. There are attributions for many of the recipes including Mrs. Hills of Baythorne End and Mrs. Archer. A receipt of payment dated 1824 from Samuel Danson signed by George Knight is at the end of the volume. Recipes dated from 1859 to 1871 are written in a different hand. Some recipes are pasted in the volume. A small clipping of useful hints is laid in. The spine and one cover are detached from the gatherings. Written on cover: Order book.
