Overview and metadata sections
A volume bound in black cloth comprising culinary recipes written by an unnamed author in England in 1865. Recipes include biscuits, cakes, catsups, fish dishes, marmalades, meat dishes, preserves, puddings, sauces, syrups, vinegars, and wines. Highlights include Bath, Brighton, captain, chocolate, fruit, and Italian biscuits; bride, gingerbread, gooseberry, Madeira, queen, sultana, and Yarmouth cakes; lobster and shrimp pots; Canterbury, Clifton, and honeycomb puddings; Adelaide sandwiches; blancmanges; mushroom powder; salad dressing; and ginger, Imperial, orange, and raspberry wines. Medicinal recipes for coughs and heartburn are included. Recipes are written in the first third of the volume. The remainder is blank except for two pages of quotations at the end of the volume.
