Overview and metadata sections
Volume containing a typescript copy of the inventory of the mansion at Blackmore Park, Hanley Castle, Worcestershire owned by Duke Alfonso Gandolfi Hornyold. The title on the front cover of the volume is stamped in gold letters. The inventory was probably compiled circa 1915. A note laid in the volume lists items given to the Red Cross Hospital at Rhydd from the tower room on August 10, 1914. There are 223 numbered leaves in the volume typed on the recto only. The inventory of the mansion and the stables is arranged by room including bedrooms, dressing rooms, kitchens, offices, sitting rooms, tower rooms, and water closets. Other rooms of note include a billiard room, conservatorium, dining room, drawing room, morning room, and study. In addition to the rooms each corridor, cupboard, hall, landing, larder, passage, stairway, and vestibule has been listed. Some rooms are noted as locked. Every aspect and item of the room has been recorded in detail, including the ceiling, walls, windows, fixtures, furniture, linens, ornaments, objects, pictures, and rugs. Abbreviated notations indicating dents, marks, soiling, wear, and other defects appear in the left margin. Handwritten at the bottom right following each room inventory is the estimated value of the contents. The front cover is detached.
This inventory was used for the auction catalog for the six-day sale of the contents of the mansion at Blackmore Park in 1921, titled Blackmore Park near Malvern: catalogue of the valuable contents of the mansion for sale Tuesday, 30th August, 1921 and five other days, Bentley, Hobbs & Mytton, auctioneers (Worcester: Bentley, Hobbs & Mytton, [1921])
