Overview and metadata sections
This slim volume contains a small collection of culinary, household, and medicinal recipes written by an unidentified author from London, England around the year 1837. The volume is written two hands in black ink and pencil. On the first page of the volume are notes, addresses, and one payment dated 1857. A majority of the recipes in the volume are for household use. Included are formulas for blacking, cleaning, glue for stone and glass, ink for steel pans, and waterproofing books. There are medicinal remedies for coughs, detergent for "Bedford cords", rheumatism, ringworm, seasickness, soaps and worms. Additionally are curatives for distemper, grip, and mange in dogs and horses. Culinary recipes at the end of the volume include buns, cheese straws, ginger beer, "Italian Castenia", jellies, lemonade, pickling, and soup.
