Overview and metadata sections
Nancy Dreher received her J.D. from University of Wisconsin in 1967. She was articles editor of that university's law review as a law student. In 1968, she began work at Leonard, Street, and Deinard, a private practice firm located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1988, she left private practice to become a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Minnesota, a position to which she was reappointed in 2002. Dreher was a member of the American College of Bankruptcy, Fellow of the American Bar Association, and member of the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges (NCBJ), where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the American Bankruptcy Law Journal from 1994 to 1998. Dreher also edited the NCBJ publication "Conference News" from 1999 to 2000, a period during which the newsletter underwent a thorough restructuring.
The Nancy C. Dreher collection includes selected issues of the American Bankruptcy Law Journal, which Dreher edited from 1994 to 1998, and "Conference News," the official NCBJ newsletter that was edited by Dreher from 1999 to 2000. The collection also includes administrative papers detailing the correspondence between Dreher and members of the NCBJ, the history of the NCBJ, and the operations of the American Bankruptcy Law Journal; annotated drafts of articles published by these two NCBJ organs under Dreher's supervision, correspondence and meeting materials relating to the activities of the Editorial Advisory Board for the American Bankruptcy Law Journal; and correspondence and other material relating to the activities of the Newsletter Committee for "Conference News."

The American Bankruptcy Law Journal (ABLJ) commenced publication in 1996. Originally titled Journal of the National Association of Referees in Bankruptcy, the journal largely reported on proceedings from the NCBJ annual meetings. In 1971, the NCBJ renamed the journal American Bankruptcy Law Journal, shifting the focus of the publication from newsletter to scholarly law review. From 1994-1998, Dreher edited the ABLJ. This series includes material that documents activities relating to the journal prior to and including Dreher's tenure as Editor-in-Chief.
Letters, reports, and other material relating to ABLJ administrative matters and Dreher's administrative activities as Editor-in-Chief.
