Otakar Odlozilk (1899-1973) was educated in Czechoslovakia - leaving the country twice: once in 1939 before the outbreak of World War II, and a second and final time in 1948 when Czechoslovakia became a communist country. In 1955 Odlozilk became a United States citizen, and joined the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania as a professor of history.

The Otakar Odlozilik Papers consists of correspondence, photographic material, research material, and personal material. The material in the collection is in English, Czech, Hungarian, French, German, Latin, Spanish and Italian.

The Otakar Odlozilik Papers were donated by Prof. Odlozilik on June 10, 1969 (accesssion number 22-69).
