Overview and metadata sections
The Society Hill section of Philadelphia, one of the oldest sections of the city, was a central focus of urban renewal in Philadelphia, beginning in the 1950s.
The collection comprises printed material and photoprints related to Society Hill, Philadelphia. Dated materials in the collection are from the early 1960s. Undated materials may be earlier or later.
Bulk of collection was transfered from Columbia University in 2010. The brochure, "Society Hill, Philadelphia: A Plan for Redevelopment..." was given to the Archives by Joan Ockman in 2025.
This collection was processed and the finding aid prepared by Bill Whitaker and Nancy Thorne. The finding aid was updated and migrated into ArchivesSpace by Courtney Smerz, Head Archivist, in 2026.
