Overview and metadata sections
Ralph Wichterman (1907-1996) was associated with Temple University for almost 50 years, first as a student, B.S. 1930, and then as a member of the faculty of the Department of Biology, 1931-1974.
The papers of this Philadelphia biologist include the typescript, galley proofs, and page proofs for two editions of his book, The biology of paramecium; text and illustrations for a textbook on Histology, and a small amount of correspondence related to the possible publication of this book. The collection also includes reading notes taken by Wichterman; reprints of scientific articles by others; correspondence with colleagues and with professional organizations; and a manuscript for a children's story about microbiology.
