Ethel Unger Blum graduated from the New Haven State Teachers College in 1938. After relocating to Philadelphia in 1944, Blum began work as the activities director at Young Men's Young Women's Hebrew Association of Philadelphia. In 1945, she married Theodore T. Blum, having one child, Susan in 1950. Ethel held subsequent positions as executive director of the Strawberry Mansion Recreation Association; camp director of Camp Pinebro and Camp Reeta in Zieglersville, PA; and assistant principal and director of admissions at Akiba Hebrew Academy.
The Ethel Unger Blum Papers, 1940-circa 2011, consists of organizational newsletters, photographs, newspaper clippings, correspondence, and printed ephemera related to Ethel Blum's activities as a day camp and school administrator at various Philadelphia area recreational and educational institutions.
Donated in 2010, transferred to archives by PJAC Board Member Julie Meranze Levitt. Folder of Camp Pinebro photographs donated separately circa March 2011.
