Overview and metadata sections

The United States Label Printing Establishment was founded in 1868, with David Heston, printer and Quaker minister, as proprietor. The company was located in Bristol, Pennsylvania, and later in Frankford in Philadelphia. David Heston subsequently led the firm David Heston & Sons, also located in Frankford.

This collection contains specimen catalogs primarily for the United States Label Printing Establishment, several from David Heston & Sons, and one catalog each from the Merchants Publishing Co. and the Buckeye Stamping Co. The specimen books contain designs for druggists' labels for boxes, bottles, and cans; prescription papers; stationary; and other items. Also included are several issues of the periodical The Druggists' Printer, printed by the United States Label Printing Establishment, and some other ephemera.

The collection is arranged chronologically.
