Overview and metadata sections

The Zitomirer Beneficial Association was organized in 1916 to provide integration assistance to newly arrived immigrants from Zhytomyr in present day Ukraine. As membership grew, the association offered additional benefits, including sick benefits and internment planning services. The lodge reserved plots for its members at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Upper Darby. The association disbanded in 1982.

This collection contains membership ledgers, financial statements, and programs of the Zitomirer Beneficial Association. It also includes correspondence and grave lot reservation information for the association's reserved lots at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. Some material in this collection post-dates the existence of the association.

Material is arranged alphabetically by type of material, and then chronologically.

Donated by Janice Booker in 1983 and 2001. Collection previously administered by the Philadelphia Jewish Archives Center, acquired by Temple in June 2009.

Collection processed and finding aid prepared in October 2015 by Jenna Marrone, Project Archivist, Special Collections Research Center.
