It was incorporated in 1802 under the management of 16 women and lasted 77 years. The Society aided many women and children. The women took in laundry, made clothing and wove tablecloths from flax. In 1803, a house was bought on Partition St. and a school was opened on the premises. This school lasted until 1809.
